My condolences, this really puts YOU between a ROCK and a HARD PLACE!   ngc3

Try to have a good day despite the impending gloomy results, anywho...friends, billionaires, politicians, race tracks come and go, but Plop will be here for ya!   ;D

It'll be a Democrat governor but the casino won't happen

I think it's a whole new world in today's current landscape. While Mikie Sherrill won (and was expected to), many towns "flipped" and while that may not have a direct impact on the referendum, it will be a reality. The very specific language can have a very drastic impact on the outcome. IMO apples and bowling balls from past referendums. Having a casino outside AC, and the expectations of same, is very, very different than AC itself. This will not be a NIMBY issue. Not anywhere to the extent of the other referendums, all which overwhelmingly got voted down.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens with the "smoke-free" issue in AC as Sherrill has openly said she supports it and will put forth efforts to make that a reality. The casino industry-----and all their lobbyists-----are of course against it and will fight it. Let's see who wins this one. It might tell us something about the referendum, LOL.

I hope the Casino happens for the MECCA! Without the M1 the Jersey Breeders would also be affected along with the young horses who are able to learn how to develop and carry the speed we have been accustomed to. JG is not reluctant to reach in his own pocket for purse shortfalls that keep quality stock in front of the horseplayers ,which contributes to the steady pools IMHO.

I hope it happens for both tracks. If it does, I'd like to see both horsemen get good deals. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Gural than anyone else. As far as Monmouth Park, I have no idea how that works. Drazin almost seems to be a monarch there. Is he gets the casino (with his partner), is Drazin going to negotiate with himself? LOL. Horsemen have consistently come out on the short end of the stick when it comes to dollars flowing into purses. But, when you have a real horseman there, the results are much better. Look at Oaklawn as an example.

Oaklawn is great organization. My first trip to Oaklawn was in 1998. The place screamed Saratoga. From the hot springs to the lake and historic down town.
At the track, I was so surprised to see the crowd of 30,000. They were celebrating The Southern Racing festival with festivities all week long leading up to the Saturday card.
In the years to follow, the Racing Festival week did well but the other days in the meet were a struggle.
Now, after they perfected the historic racing machines and invested with forethought, the place is ultra successful. Maidens race for $100K +. Full fields and the best stables and jockeys are there.
If anyone is serious about building a horse-racing product, you need to visit Oaklawn and mimic their product.
It is a great place and I will be back there in 2026.

I heard Mamdani is giving free bus rides and 50 dollar vouchers for the Meadowlands! His gift to all New Yorkers

Must wear a Hijab and have a copy of the Quran on oneself to qualify!

Backpacks are optional!
