Chantilly OUT
« on: June 13, 2025, 03:52:15 PM »
Fans of harness racing anticipating the matchup between Chantilly and Miki And Minnie will have to wait a bit longer.

George Millar, breeder and owner of 2024 Canadian Horse of the Year Chantilly , told Trot Insider early Friday afternoon that the undefeated pacing filly would be scratched from her scheduled start in the 2025 Fan Hanover Stakes, part of the star studded Pepsi North America Cup card, at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday , June 14.

“They just did an ultrasound of her lungs and , you know, she trained okay this week but the vet said she’s got inflammation throughout her lungs and we could really hurt her if we race her “ said Millar , indicating that she really hasn’t been at her best all spring.

“I don’t want to take a chance with her , and it breaks my heart because it’s my birthday tomorrow.”

There will be less cause for Millar to celebrate on Saturday , but the bigger picture is clearly in view here: the horse comes first , and this matchup — a matchup that’s arguably the most anticipated matchup in the sport at this moment — isn’t in the cards for Saturday June 14, 2025.

“I wish Miki And Minnie all the luck in the world, and hope she wins the race,” said Millar in reference to the 2025 Fan Hanover final, which will now be a nine horse event as Woodbine Communications reported that the also eligible , Duration , will not draw in.

Chantilly (Big Jim – Shiraz Seelster) is trained by Nick Gallucci for Millar Farms of Stouffville, Ont. She’s perfect in her 12 lifetime appearances with more than $915,000 in earnings.

I see Chantilly has 'RECOVERED' ;D Looks like a clear cut ducking of Miki + Minni.
Didn't want to blemish her perfect record. They can run but how long will they continue to try and hide?

They can do precisely as they see fit. But thanks for your insights.

Highly doubtful as why enter her to begin with as it was beyond obvious they would race each other. Next you will tell me she will duck the Breeders Crown

I seriously doubt that is the reason

I can see I'm a lone wolf here. No biggie, it's just speculation and speculation's free ;D
Tough to say with great confidence not knowing what she is staked too. I will say that I think
it will be several months before you see her cross the border, if then Too safe and easy to soak
up all that Canadian $$$ and protect her record, reputation, and legacy. As for the Breeder's
Crown, I figure Gallucci with a detention barn will be as big an obstacle to her as Miki + Minni.

I am still trying to figure out why you would ultrasound the lungs on one that trained “good”. That doesn’t happen at the barn it is a go to the university or a major clinic procedure

You have your answer, she trained "good" not great and they knew something was up. That guy can have any vet or tool at his place in a moments notice. Millar isn't ducking anyone, mare got sick at an awful time which can happen the way the weather has been fluctuating. Time will tell, it always does. For the record, I think Minnie is the better filly but Chantilly is no slouch.

I hope you are right but, with the way harness racing is today, "ducking" is on the table for discussion. It is rivalries like this which build interest something the industry ignores.

She's scratched again tonight. Must be fairly serious. She looked like a lock in that bunch for good $$.
Hope she comes back well. Nice horse.

They ain’t ducking. The drugs that he put into her finally caught up. The owner made the decision to hire Nick as a trainer while he was on suspension for a bad test   So you really think he has the best interest of the horse?? No he wants to win at any cost. Now it is biting him in the ass. I love karma
