Not really breaking news I guess, since he's been advertised now for abit.
It's a great game, if you have the means to play

I think it was 2015 when Artspeak was a 3yo--and there so much hype about how great he was going to be

he was no match for Wiggle it Jiggleit the entire year and it wasn't even close

he wasn't even the 2nd best 3yo that season

After his freshman year, of course the talk amongst the uneducated masses was omg, wait until his 3yo year. Yes, he was the 2yo champ, and all that. But every year there's a 2yo champ. Regardless, long before his 3yo campaign ended, the educated people, smart breeders, everyone knew he was not going to be a game changer stallion. There was no major syndication deal, aside from the posturing and BS PR. They sold some shares here and there, but none of the major farms were getting behind him. His 3yo year was a disappointment relative to the hype and the expectations. Like many others, his year was filled with, maybe not excuses, but explanations. That just lead to hope and conjecture. He wasn't good enough, and didn't step up, to get the real big win in any of the big dances during his 3yo year. A lot of 2nd's and 3rd's in finals. He didn't really show up and step up until Lexington when he won the Tattersalls. Yes, it was a very good mile, and after he came out of the pocket, he showed some good heart in that race.

He's a Western Ideal (out of an Artsplace mare) so he was a good cross for a broad selection of mares. He sired a few good ones, but no real superstars, and wasn't expected to. He was expected to be a good 2nd tier stallion. Even Brittany Farms didn't try to make him a superstar, because they knew better. He'll be a big fish in a small pond in PEI.

If he was sound, he would have been better off to continue racing.
He's been shipped around all over North America

There must be less and less yearlings there every year now, short fields in stake races, sometimes 4 horse fields …..

I'd support Kinsmen Equine if I was breeding in the Maritimes.

Mrs.Macdonalds father was always really good to my dad when he came to town with a string of horses.

I never forget that kind of stuff

Kingsmen Equine is run by Ashley MacDonald, who actually has had the support of some good people, including Winbak Farm. She was born into the sport/industry and in a short time has had some very extensive experience both in Canada and the US. Her dad Ronald "Ronnie" MacDonald spent his younger years in Montreal and Toronto, and was the long time second trainer for both Rob and Raz MacKenzie. He has been on his own for many years now and has campaigned some very good horses, including O’Brien Award finalist for aged trotting mare just a few years ago, Power and Grace (she finished second to Grandma Heidi).

You’re right on.  Back when they were in Montreal I think Robbie set a record for most wins by a trainer in a single season. Richard Moreau was also working for them at the time as well.

I think Robbie did set a season record for wins. He was on a major tear in Montreal for a while. Robbie was shooting some scary numbers and then he got a positive test and served days. He got pretty big and started shipping and swapping horses with Raz, who was in Toronto at the time. Raz got on a pretty good roll too.

Moreau did work for Robbie for a period of time, but I don't remember exactly when. I don't think it was very long, and I think Moreau spent more time with Leo and Jean Tourigny. As far as Moreau, the rest as they say is history, and it looks like apparently he is too.
