So what's the rule in the t-bred game----he's suspended as a trainer, but can he still own horses? I guess Sandy Goldfarb has to move the horse Monte was training for him. I wonder if Gelrod will simply find someone to be the beard. If he sticks to ownership just watch who ends up training for him.

Not aware that Goldfarb is associated with Monte. I know in NY, he uses Atras, Dutrow and Nevin.

I remember back in the day he got a life suspension. Ratted on a few people and weasled his way back in

Monte is a scumbag from his early days in AC as a pitboss.

They know each other a hundred years plus and Goldfarb had a horse that Monte was training. I think it got claimed. Goldfarb was using several trainers other than the ones you listed. Gumpster had one with Monte as well.

Monte was a quasi-groom, part-time, didn't want to be a lifer/groom. Yes, he ended up in AC. He became an agent. He was shrewd. Had a couple of decent connections in Ohio early on. He worked hard. His life changed when he tried to buy a horse from Bill Robinson. Robinson talked him off the horse and the friendship started. Who would have known those two would end up at the top of the pyramid.

Monte started before his Atlantic City casino job. He worked for Charlie Giamanco around 1979. He went on his own and claimed a horse, if my memory is good, named R J Yankee at Pompano. He also had an association with NJ thoroughbred trainer Danny Lopez.
