Here's a race from NZ you should enjoy
« on: April 26, 2024, 05:28:55 AM »
It's a $110,000 race for the best pacers in NZ on a 5/8th track going the other way around.

The winner is a 9yo who was 154 to 1 and came from last on the home turn in a 12 horse field. The winner is racing Free-legged

Notice over there, they race all bunched up and there's a lot of 3 and 4 wide running.  IMO that is why the Down Under drivers do so good over here as they have all different distances, bigger fields and they don't gap.

The race is over a mile and the track was way off after rain and they ran a slow time of 1:53.9. SOme of these horses have run in 49 in Australia

Mark Purdon's brother Barry who trains as many horses as Mark does gets the win and his top horse Merlin who just won a million dollar race last week runs 3rd. Merlin has won 18 of 26 and 1.2 million so he is no slouch and Mark Purdon's top horse finishes 2nd. No one in their right mind would have taken that longshot. Another female driver gets the win. There are many women that drive in fact there were 3 females driving in that race.

would love to see a north american track have the balls to try similar

added distance

12-14 horses

would make things much more critical for drivers, more decisions to make in those bulky fields

wagering would be way up

  • Kirby's Ace: Calhoun..Its complicated to say the least. Paulie Sweet Potatoes has seen his evil ways and has given his soul to God to be saved. he has shortened his name to SWEET for contractual agreements with Plop. He's on double secret probation for the time being. Use your best judgement is my advice.

  • Sweet: Great job tonight JT and Bello!  Bello had a string of longshots too, different tracks.  Bitter Truth didn't like some of the antics, and laid off Mohawk and Scioto, equally as hard as picking winners, saying NO!  tmbz1
