BREAKING: SELF-OWN! Trump's new "fraud hotline" could hilariously become the biggest self-inflicted political DISASTER of his presidency!
Donald Trump loves to promise voters a boatload of money if the Republicans keep control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. You may want to call an ambulance to pick up the people collapsing from holding their breath while waiting for any of that promised cash to find its way to their wallets. (Remember the undelivered DOGE dividend and the fictional $2,000 tariff dividend?)
Now Trump has finally come up with a plan that can make at least a few lucky citizens some cold, hard cash as he announced the launch of the new Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program.
As Trump described the program in an Oval Office event today, now “Independent journalists and everybody and all Americans will now be able to go to the fraud.gov and report cases of corruption and theft of taxpayer dollars in their communities all via a new website.”
“Anybody that can prove that he turned somebody in, in other words, he or she, if you turn somebody in and you, let's say, report and you find a billion dollars, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It's a lot of money,” Trump explained. “And if it's $10 billion, $200 billion, $400 billion, we're giving a 1% commission to that person.”
Indeed, that’s some serious money, if it actually materializes. Of course, there will be some hoops to jump through.
“You have to prove that you were the one and prove that it was you,” Trump qualified the offer. “And I don't know if you can do this, but subject to the laws of our nation, which I feel very strongly about, if a reporter turns somebody in, you have to get approval, perhaps from your wonderful newspaper. But if you turn somebody in, you get a 1% commission. You may turn it down or you may say, I'm not going to be a reporter any longer, this is too easy.”
Perhaps this is Trump’s surreptitious plot to gut the media that he hates so much of their top investigative reporters?
Either way, this provides the American public the perfect opportunity to FLOOD the new website with reports of every bit of fraudulent activity perpetrated by the Trump administration. We’d like to report Trump for his pump-and-dump crypto schemes. How about reporting Kristi Noem and Cori Lewandowski for their corrupt, no-bid DHS contracts for detention centers?
Then there’s everything that Elon Musk did with DOGE. Sweetheart deals for the fossil fuel industry by the Interior Department? Certainly the Pentagon procurement process should be a ripe target for those seeking their 1% commission. And what about reporting all those corporate fraudsters already pardoned by Trump?
No one is likely to get paid for reporting all these sordid details, but if enough people report all these instances of fraud and corruption, at least the administration will know we’re watching and aware of their misdeeds.
Who knows, if the Democrats regain control of Congress in a few weeks, maybe some of these fraudulent acts will actually lead to a real prosecution.
