So,even OFFICERS come to enlisted mess. Thay have their own homes on base,but why have the wife cook when one can get this feast wiyhout cookin. And the MESS is open from 11AM until 5PM. If you still hungry you can go back. So say you enyoy early: Then you can hit NCO club and watch footsie ball. And they lay out a free spread of all kinds of snacks. And I did not drink cocktails which be .25 cents,but indulged in beers. And they be for a small draft,.10cents and .15 ents for a tall one. THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
But here what happen that day. There were me and 2 others from meesse unit that stayed on base rather than takin leave and headin home. In walks our officer from our unit. He goes to us. This is sad that yooouussess don't have family to go home to. I'm havin you come to me house and have THANKSGIVIN DINNER cooked by me wife and we have a wonderful ARMY family togeatherness. I should have asked him immeditially. YOU GOTS NO FAMILY to go home to ALSO. So we stuck. YA can't make up any fictious excuse,to not attend,as he would find out. SOOESS of we goes. THEE WORST DINNER anyone could ever experience. One wanted to ask: WHO KILLED this BIRD and COOKED it. And I like JELLO,but not with VEGITIBLES in it. And I was hopin for desert a CHOCALATE PIE with MARINAGUE toppin on it. We got servered FRUIT CAKE,which makes me GAG. But had to say to the HOSTESS:this food is DELICIOUS,when me on the verge of PUKIN.
Missed that MESS HALL meal. Should have refused orders for the 4th time.
