I also enjoyed the good old days at Freehold when the horses and drivers were top quality and jumped between M1 and Freehold, of course that's when M1 was the premiere harness track in the country.
Cat Manzi, Jackie Mo, Herve, Campbell etc. were all driving there in the afternoon and then the same drivers would be at M1 that night.

As I recall, Herve only drove regularly at Meadowlands 1 or 2 years at most and didn't do very well, he didn't have the horsepower, plus the driving colony was very deep. Most of his doubleheaders were either to Yonkers or Roosevelt.

Herve was a staple at Freehold back in the 80's and 90's and then slowed down, prior to that I don't know.  Then Case came along and won more races as the majority of his drives in Yonkers in a year than Filion won doing double duty, and his legend was solidified, I think 1000+ and broke Filion's record.

Herve owned Freehold for alot of years, but I first remember him when he drove regularly at Brandywine before moving to the NY circuit. He dominated there for several years with alot of cheap claimers but did have a few top horses including Nansemond who beat Albatross in the Little Brown Jug.

You are correct, Herve at night was partial to the NY tracks and occasionally even popped up on some Sunday's at Green Mountain.
I was just generalizing in my post, it can be picked apart.

Never been to Green Mountain, but as I recall it was a 13/16-mile track with $700 purses. I remember Mickey McNichol used to drive at Georgetown Raceway in Delaware where all the purses were $500 before he hooked up with Joe Caraluzzi and moved to Meadowlands.

I have never been to Green Mountain either but some time ago I read a blog about that track, and they mentioned that Herve showed up on some Sunday's.
I do remember him being one of the regulars at YR and RR back in the 80's.

The Freehold horses have become the Meadowlands' Friday night card since December. Races for 68 and under, 71 and under, and 74 and under were the normal conditions at Freehold. Plus, with 3 to 4 Amateur races a night, the Freehold horses fit those classes too.
