Meadows- accident today
« on: June 08, 2024, 01:11:21 PM »
Race 3 -#7 with Mike Wilder.  Broke on backstretch and went down.
4th race delayed.  Looked nasty.  Hope all ok.
Anybody know what’s going on?

Looked like everyone stayed up except Wilder with Simpsons horse.
Myers was listed as DNF but had looked to be clear. Haven’t heard back about any of them.

Hooked wheels while backing through the field on a break. Got turned sideways and went down; luckily the horse behind was already on a break and going inside the pylons.

just to be clear when you say "waiting for an ambulance"
you mean there isn't one on site

They are not permitted to race without an ambulance on site.

They had to wait for another ambulance to replace the ambulance that took Wilder to the hospital. As Hammer pointed out, they can not race unless there is an ambulance on the grounds.

This sucks. Wishing a speedy recovery to Mike. Condolences to the connections of the horse that was put down.

Dirk said it was particularly hard because Battleshoe was the last horse his Dad bred.
