Effective November 17, 2023, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is reinstating breathalyzer testing for horseracing participants in Safety Sensitive Positions, including drivers, jockeys, valets, and track maintenance personnel to ensure continued safety.

Most of them drive better under the influence
This may explain why that Scott Young guy always looks like hes doing the  chicken dance when they go behind the gate, still loaded

I am confused. every paddock I have ever been in, I always saw the drivers "blowing up the balloon", as they say before they get past the paddock gate.

It was very dangerous to blow the breathalyzer during Covid and for 2 years after. PA just started it up again a few months ago

They’ve been using “breath strips” since Covid hit. They’re not as accurate as a breathalyzer but gets the job done.

Random tests and only 2 or 3 drivers a night, and the paddock judge controls that

They’re going back to the breathalyzer November 17.

Office: Reminder – Effective November 17, 2023 the AGCO is reinstating breathalyzer testing for horse racing participants in Safety Sensitive Positions, including drivers and track maintenance personnel. Drivers will be required to arrive one hour prior to their first drive of the night.
