i disagree. you and i both know who killed harness racing in illinois. it was the greedy johnson family and langley. it was probably before your time in the game lucpark but those guys were what killed chicago harness racing and its a shame. you didnt have horses back then but just ask some of the old timers who raced in chicago back then how those bastards killed harness racing in chicago. especially duke and johnny johnson who didnt have a clue how to run a racetrack.

It wasn’t the Carey’s or Johnstown’s that killed Illinois racing. It was McNulty and Reynolds that sold the horsemen out when the riverboats were trying to get in the state. And they also allowed recapture to happen.  A year later Reynolds had a nice new beautiful farm and was at HB and Lex buying top sired yearlings instead of the cheap Illinois breds he had always trained
