Do you think a horse's current weight is a meaningful factor for handicapping?

Santa Anita posts each horses weight during race broadcasts.  Do you think this would be an informative factor for a harness handicapping? To be it seems to be more useless info.

It could possibly be useful. In the T breds if you have a heavy 1st time starter and next time out he’s dropped some pounds, that is an angle.

Reason for the question was some drastic weight differences in a few of the classes. one example was a 260 weight differential from lightest to heaviest all tho most others were equally matched within 60 to 150 pounds of one another.

My friend Trigger tells me i'm naive about things. I am not. But I do believe that what he does overrides the petty nasty personal attacks we see so frequently.
