Mohawk 8/8 Thursday

Some interesting starters tonight.

Race 4 has quite a few question marks in it. MANLICIOUS had to qualify after breaks. Decently strong qualifier but funky gaited and Moore did get after him a bit. Play Therapy coming in from NYSS all on half miles. (edit: Unique Beach is scratched) Unique Beach nice start first out but coming off of break (horse didnt show any obvious reasons for a break. Horse to its outside did jump and maybe spooked it?)

Anyway, the intriguing horse to me is the the 1 Cowboy Logic. Showed not much in 1st qual but 2nd qual showed good speed off the gate only to get run down late by Anteo (who went on to win a division of the Battle of Waterloo series) National Sport (premiered in Gold Leg then dropped to win 2nd LT start in a Grassroot event).

Last public appearance was 40 days ago. In between that time changed barns and is now in Rod Boyd's barn. Owner hasn't had much success with Ontario Sire Stakes pacers this season but are the connections for the trotter Encarcion. Horse appeared to be on the smallish side so looking for some growth since the qualifier. Will only be taking a price on this horse. 15-1 or better is my asking quote. Boyd has been known to send out longshot 1st timers. Hoping this one fits the bill and gets the job done.

Less of a betting perspective, curious how Moon Bridge goes in the 2nd race. Had no shot of catching the winner first out but that horse was odds on and quite an expensive purchase. Despite no hope of winning, colt was trotting strongly through the wire.  Think this one could be a strong one tonight but price almost assuredly wont be there.

Good luck to all and look forward to any thoughts on tonight's card.

yeah unfortunately not a ton of betting opportunities for these. Moon Bridge looked pretty sharp although really wasnt going to get challenged once both Blais trotters blew up.
