Harness Racing / Re: Trotters vs Pacers

I don't think there has every been anyone that make a trotter look so fluid as Ĺke Svanstedt.  Every single one of his that race look so natural.

He can hang one up. Never seen so many horses with open bridles, no overchecks and no boots. I know he is buying at an elite level (or at least his owners are) but his horses are beautifully gaited and look like a million bucks all the time.

Didn't Inman subsequently switch to Thoroughbreds? I seem to remember him racing some at Mountaineer as some point.

Jonathan Ahle has the skills to be a successful driver, maybe not Grand Circuit, but who knows? He’s come a long way in a short period of time.
Tyler Miller, well, not so much.

You see sometimes, not often, as wide as three or four paths wide. Five wide or wider , I would call quite rare.
But Ceba is a rare 'talent'. ngc3

I predict a very typical overdrive by Allan Davis, Tetrick to sit as close as he can--then Beat Cop goes by late.

I think both horses will be odds on.

Are you suggesting these 2 young drivers should drive nowhere but where the best of the best compete? That seems like some awful advice and I sincerely hope nobody is actually telling this to them.

Not at all!
It’s tough enough to learn at Rosecroft and what the style of racing is (how fast will the opening 1/4 be) !!  At least Ahle gets the better drives there compared to Miller. Average stock there at best with the banking of the track making if faster than other tracks.
Now to Freehold-not great stock there but both get better stock to drive.
Now the meadowlands— they both get what is left over to drive although much better horse flesh.
There is a big difference between taking the same courses in high school to courses for a bachelor’s degree and taking courses for a master’s degree and beyond. These 2 gentlemen are doing these 3 courses at the same time on each track they drive.

… give him credit for one thing. Just now, in Dover’s 3rd, he had the trailing 9 post in the second tier. He elected to follow the “5” and got off to a fine start. Then of course, he overdrove his horse, and after leading to the 5/8, predictably quit. But while it certainly is legal, I can’t recall the last time a second tier horse followed a midpack starter. Just my two cents.
