Title: Gural not happy about racing on Thursday
Post by: stanetelman on July 28, 2022, 07:29:18 PM
The Meadowlands management is reminding trainers that we will race live next Thursday (Aug. 4) along with the regular Friday-Saturday schedule. "The only reason we're racing on Thursday is we are committed to race these 2 year old races." said Meadowlands CEO Jeff Gural, "Thursday night racing just doesn't generate enough wagering and it's just a waste of my money."

He races 3 oddball Thursdays a year and he concludes Thursdays dont make him enuf money. Of course they don't, it takes time to get traction for a new race day. He is totally consumed by short termb dollars and cents. Specifically, his own.

Gamblers aren't betting big money on 2 year old races especially the trotters.

Woodbine did 1.7 mil tonight, plenty of 2yos all over the card. Meadowlands did 1.0 last time they race on a Thursday.  Gural has no strategy, no plan, but has lots of anger

i'm sure it's better today but i can still remember 5 or 6 breakers in a 2 Year Old trot races back in the day.. You'd have to be crazy to bet substantial money on those races ..

As with any business, if the owner is not happy with it, sell it. Sell the track and the sports betting operation as a package for he can't have one without the other.

SO ALL YOU HAVE LEFT ARE THE ASS KISSERS..AND GARY DEE LEEE OO..

AND HIS PIMP DADDY OUTFITS ,,WALKING OR TRYING TO WALK \FANS INTO A WINNERS CIRCLE..

AND FINALLY LETS GET 1 THING STRAIGHT

HE DOESNT LOVE RACING

HE LOVES HIS BOTTOM LINE ,

AND WHEN HIS LINES START READING IN THE RED

OUT COME THE NEW RULES,,COMPLAINTS ETC ETC ETC..

Gamblers sure seem to hate his survivor pick 7 and his pick 6. Threatening gamblers into betting more prob isn't gonna work

Jeff has threatened and/or insulted pretty well everyone to this point and is still whining. A list drivers, B list drivers, amateur drivers, trainers, owners, other tracks, governing bodies etc, and finally the gamblers. It's a hard time of year to expect rock solid handle with a hundred tracks of all shapes and sizes running it is going to water down the wagering dollar.  Even his big nights he is more worried about filling his elite owners club or who is sitting in the sportsbook than what is happening on the track and if those races are actually playable to the bettor.

Fuck him. It's really enough already. I don't need him or his bullshit. Plenty of other tracks to bet. I will skip the Hambo and I think I will also pass on the Handicapping Championship as well unless the winner gets to be interviewed and I can tell Jeff to GSAC while receiving the award.

Seems to be what a lot of the bettors are saying. I still like playing the big M but Jeff's rants have gone from semi-entertaining to tiring self-indulged bullshit. Everyone drop what you're doing Jeff's track is racing and if you don't support him you're one unappreciative asshole. As for Hambo day I try to tread lightly on those days anyway, too easy to get caught up in the hype of the day and overspend on shit betting races.

When asked about Thursday night racing, Meadowlands CEO Jeff Gural had this response, "Scott (Warren, Big M racing secretary) carded 9 races for this coming Thursday and I have instructed Jason Settlemoir (Meadowlands COO) and Mike Antonaides (Meadowlands program director) to get through the card as quickly as possible. Forget about drag time between races, forget about pool guarantees, the longer the lights are on, the more money I'm losing."

Race during the day and you solve your lights problem.

Your lousy races start so damn early as it is. By the time I get home, cook dinner and finish my dinner it's already race 8. Why start so early ?

Gural has said that he starts early to accommodate the requests of horsepeople, track employees and gamblers who don't want to stay late at night

Thanks !!
Track employees and horse people that have a long distance to travel can make this request but it is only 2 nights a week. The gamblers are betting from home. Gural lies and says what is good for him.

I have a wife. If she cooks she will burn down the house.
I didn’t say start at midnight. 7:45 or 8:00 would be much better than the 6:00 shit.

Dave Little was on tvg again giving out yet another p4 ticket that cashed and lost money. Add a few more viewers to the list that will never bet Gural's place again
