Methadone is a schedule 2 opioid. It would be appropriate for DEA to inquire as to how it wound up on the grounds of the Meadows racetrack and Casino. For that matter, who prescribed it should also be investigated.

They know where the drug came from.  An employee was participating in a methadone program legally.  the commission was aware that this employee was on methadone but did not inform his employer.  The commission not only failed to inform the employer, they failed to instruct the  employee on safety measures that would prevent contaminating horses. (wearing gloves etc.).
If these are the facts, and i believe they are, the commission should be reviewing it's policies and procedures with known  drug addicts.  At least educate the addict on how to prevent contamination.  Might be a violation of privacy laws to inform the employer.

Do anyone believe that that positive would stick, it's Goldie, one of the favorite sons of the Meadows. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. The horseman don't mind getting fucked over, as long  as it's by one of their own.

Two trainers in the same barn with the same employee to be accurate!  Ask the commission if you don't believe me. I got my information from a very reliable source.

The lab claims they can find a grain of salt in a swimming pool. There is no question that the sweat from an addict can cause a positive test.  I would prefer not to be defending these guys, I think they have been wronged and the same thing could happen to you or me or anyone else.

The likelihood of a metabolic breakdown product of methadone being absorbed by a horse orally and flagging at a significant threshold is absolutely ridiculous. Also given the differences in volume of distribution between a 1200-1400 lb horse vs a 200 lb human makes this so unlikely that the plausibility of this for a legal defense is foolish. This is an excuse given by the “management” to justify finding a positive. In this day and age of opioid hypersensitivity, this should be reported to DEA for investigation. This excuse is accepted by layman, because most of the public do not understand pharmacology, pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics.  Horse was given a dose of methadone, which would have to be adjusted for route of administration and volume of distribution. May have been done without trainer’s knowledge. But the excuse of the drug addict groom urinating in a stall, has gone the way of the Easter bunny. More likely, commission/ tracks don’t want a costly legal battle that gives racing a black eye. Should be further investigated by federal authorities.

Cheats covering for cheats!  Trainer responsibility means nothing I guess.  You hire someone it's your problem at that point.  Don't hire druggie losers and this wouldn't happen.  This is why harness is a complete joke!  Keep making fucking excuses for everyone.
