I agree the casino would love to dump racing but isn’t there a contract that was signed between empire and the horseman ? No casino unless there is racing ? Or do you think their attitude is sue us for violating the agreement ..

You definitely have a contract. I'm sure it runs out soon and I don't know what happens after that. The racetrack will probably just look like the rest of 17B. This isn't Roosevelt Raceway land but with the mass exodus from New York City, it might be good for a development of town houses.

Just a side note to your above comment regarding the land.. My buddy is a realtor in Monticello fir many years.. You are 100% correct. It is like 9/11 all over again, as far as demand for second homes, within a 3 hr drive from the NYC/NJ area. After 9/11, I owned a home in a lakeside community. in 2.5 years I sold it for 2x my purchase price. I bought another with lake frontage in the same community and sold that for 50% profit in 2 years, after 3 days on the market.
Vovid 19 is changing the way families value their time together. In my area, if you purchased a pool this year, it will not be installed until next year.
Monticello being well within this are may finally get some of this action. But, I would not invest a dime. It is still a sketchy are and a poor risk.

It might be a bit optimistic to think you can abandon your customers for 7 months and believe they will just return to your product.
If marketing and advertising is needed to entice the return of your customers, who will develop and fund a campaign? The track? Horsemen?

God Bless the horse people there and the staff that puts racing together for them!

Nothing changes so we don't need it to open to complain.
Bruce Aldrich jumps more horses at the start than Andy Miller. I don't think he's really that bad so he's a degenerate cheater.
Jim Taggart just sucks.
Lounsbury lost his chemistry set before the track closed so it isn't that he forgot how to train. POS
Larry Stalbaum (Who was kicked out about 6 times) will dominate if he returns.
Andrew the race fixer will hand out envelops as soon as the pools start to grow.
Management will treat the handful of fans that show up like shit. They don't want you to return and they don't hide this feeling but they will lie to your face and
say all of the changes are being done for you.

He should just announce like the job description. Reading lines from the program at the half is annoying and obnoxious. He can do that during the 20 minutes between races. The schmuck at Pocono does it too. They are both the bottom of the barrel.

Of course it’s needed. Just like freehold is needed for horses who aren’t fast enough for meadowlands. Monticello houses the horses that can’t go to Meadowlands/yonkers/pocono....and they’ve been racing there since 1958.

I agree, the sport no longer has the need for MA and PA style outfits. And they should be done away with, along with the tracks they race those broken down 3 legged cripples at.

You know the stables, who breed the same now 20 yr ole mare with a 2.02 mark on a half mile, to the families pet stallion who hasn't sired a steaks winner ever.   It is a breeders game now, and it all TRICKLES DOWN from there.  You either keep up with the times or get the fuck out, No matter how many great times you had with your dead grandad there. If you don't like what you are racing for, go somewhere else, quit begging.  You are embarrasing

Get something FRESH ON THE PLATE. Bettors get tired of the SAME OLD SHIT DIFFERENT DAY.
Tracks need to infuse new blood, both on the track with horses and horsemen, and behind the scenes. Don't just make a harness track a home for stupid old horsemen.
