Horses full of Mucus.  Treating now.  Expect improvement.  8 hole at Northfield tough on Wind of the North but he gave it his all.  Won the week before.    Kurt Sugg notified the judges a few minutes before blue Ivy was to race that a somewhat obscure rule made her ineligible and I was scratched.  Sugg drove very well for me several times last year and he was right about the rule.  When you are right, you can't be wrong?   Bercury is still having Fun.  If it was easy it wouldn't be any fun.

In ohio, if a horse scratches after a qualifier it must race within 15 days or requalify.  I was entered to race on the 16th day!

You never answer an easy question.  I am excited about that hunk of flesh I bought from Renee.  He is in very good shape considering what he has accomplished and he is fitting into our operation well.  He has a little of the Cash Hall attack dog in him so you have to be careful walking by his stall but he is a superb athlete and likes to work.

I think so too.  I have always liked Cash Hall trotters. He seems to like his work and his problems appear to be minimal.  He did tie up on me once after training. He is down in class on Monday and he trained very well this week.  He is one of the horses in my stable that showed heavy mucus.
I am not going to out Gym.  If I told you that it was his mother that fooled around with Roger and not his wife, would you be surprised?

Amazing how you progressives stretch the truth.  My Cash Hall trotter is 7 not 10 and we will soon see if he was a good purchase.   Right now, I would bid the same as I did when I bought him.  Tuesday I may feel different.

Blood is really messed up.  Red count in the low 7s.  I really  like this horse a lot but something is certainly wrong.  Bercury is still having fun much to the chagrin of Gym.  If it was easy and there were no  problems, what fun would that be?

I think there is a lingering effect. The Rene "got caught with the good shit" effect...
Hate to say.... Had a horse crash off EPO two weeks after I Claim off a leading trainer in Ohio....  Anymore, I look at  an entire field and think - I wouldn't claim off any of these guys... Small time trainer has barely any shot to improve one.

Rhabdomyolysis?
yes, and it was a violent case.  He qualified before tying up very well winning by 8 lengths and coming home in 28 seconds by himself.  i have never heard of tying up destroying a blood count but maybe it did.

Rene reached into his archives and came up with three blood reports on Small town dated 6 months apart.  Nothing different in his reports than in mine.  I was pleasantly surprised. I have never seen a horse race well with RBC in the low 7s but t this horse seems to be the exception.  Trained  very well  today.  I now theorize that that the massive tie up did him in and he is just recovering. A puzzlement!

I am not really worried about red acid because I understand it is used for lameness.  Smallltownthrowdo wn is a very sound horse.  Other than a previous quarter crack that is healing nicely, I can't find anything bothering him.

Butter Bay Hanover was first time in a condition claimer.  Add to that Aaron from 2 retards (Shaw and Jason Merriman) and the horse was suppose to improve 10 lengths.

The 5 had missed more than a month, Lanas Desire had the aforementioned Chris Shaw who is just a space taker, and the rest of the field was basically shit.

That’s a pretty good assessment.
Butter Bay was parked from the 9 hole around the first 2 turns and still made a huge backstretch move like he was on jet fuel though.

what you forgot to mention that floating from the 9 hole, he was three deep on the first turn, tucked in behind another parked. Arod half pulled down the lane 3 wide but tucked back behind parker  - only to pull three wide on the second turn and then parked down the backside a second time he went by the favorite like he was tied up and then opened up by 5.....

you make good points --- so if he gets a smooth trip next week he would have zero excuse for getting beat in 52.0 as much ground he lost, stopped and started and vroom vroom like a car.

Have to give him props for this:

Trainer Bill Rhoades is claiming and racing horses to aid the recovery of drivers Tony Hall, Hunter Myers, Chris Lems and Ryan Stahl who were injured in an accident in May at Northfield Park.

by Bob Roberts

Perhaps it’s because their skills contribute to his often and official welcome to the winner’s circle. Or could it be that the men and women in helmets and stirrup pants that succeed where he struggles deserve a helping hand when they literally fall from sulky grace.

Whatever the reason, Bill Rhoades, currently the second winningest trainer in North America, has seen enough injured harness drivers, and has decided to do something about it following a horrific tangle of horses, the result of an accident in a race at Northfield Park in late May.

Rhoades has since formed the Helping Hooves Driver Relief Fund. His goal is to provide weekly checks for reinsmen sidelined by injury, with the funds coming from a stable of horses purchased for the fund as well as from donations.

The first horse to represent the H H Driver Relief Fund is Galyns Gift. The 7-year-old mare will pace in tonight’s (July 10) fifth race at Northfield Park. She’s the 6-5 morning line wagering favorite.

Four drivers – Tony Hall, Hunter Myers, Chris Lems and Ryan Stahl – were all spilled to the Northfield track surface after Stahl’s mount (JK Parlay) tumbled to the ground and three trailing horses went over him in the 13thrace on May 27.

Stahl and Lems walked off the track, but Hall and Myers suffered serious injuries.

“I was watching the races at home on television and saw the accident,” said Rhoades. “It was a bad one, and right after it, my phone blew up. Everybody was concerned. They wanted to know how serious it was.”

It was very serious. Myers suffered fractured cheek bones and a dislocated jaw. Hall took the worst of it. He broke seven ribs and had two crushed vertebrae.

“Tony is a buddy of mine,” said Rhoades. “When he went down, that sealed the deal for me. What first got me thinking about the fund was an accident earlier this year (on Feb. 15) involving Aaron Merriman driving one of my horses. He hit the ground so hard, it cracked his helmet and he had a concussion.”

Merriman remembers the fall that sent him to the hospital and the sideline.

“I hit my head pretty good,” he said. “I was unconscious for a quite a while. It really shook me up. I ended up with one of my many concussions.”

While he hopes to never get a check from the Drivers Relief Fund, Merriman applauds Rhoades for his initiative.

“It’s a great idea,” he said. “He ran it by me and I loved it. Billy took my accident with his horse personal. He’s come up with a great way to give back to the industry, to show that he really cares. He’s doing a phenomenal job.”

While Hall was unavailable for comment, Merriman says he speaks with him daily and that Hall is doing well.

“He’s back to his wisecracking self,” said Merriman. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see him driving again by late summer.”

Rhoades said Hall will be getting the first HH Driver Relief Fund check this month. He said it will be for $1,500.

“I’m not taking any money for the training of the Relief Fund horses,” said Rhoades. “That saves us about $2,200 a month. All the monies we receive through purse earnings or donations will go to drivers. If we lose a horse via the claim box, we’ll replenish the stable.”

Rhoades, whose drives are few and far between, said he wouldn’t take a dime if he has an accident.

“My record is terrible (nine winners from 176 drives in 14 years),” he said. “Maybe I’m not going fast enough to get in trouble.”

Rhoades made the H H Driver Relief Fund a nonprofit organization by successful applying for a 501c3 exemption. Leah Rhoades, Billy’s wife, is the president of the fund. Owner Craig Stein is the treasurer. Randy Ringer, a horse enthusiast, is the secretary.

Those seeking more information on the program can contact Rhoades Racing at 19brhoades87@gmail.com. Donations can be send to Rhoades Racing in care of the MGM Northfield Park, 10705 Northfield Rd, Northfield, Oh. 44067.

Disappointing to me also.  The drug has a lipophilic tendency and can hang around a long time according to Dr. Robinson.  This is a hangover from the December 5th 2019 treatment.

Excuses, just take the punishment like a big boy. Trainers responsibility. If it´s in YOUR horse YOU are responsible.

He should probably just take the 15 days so he doesn't test positive again. And people would like him more. No special treatment cause his name is Bill Bercury.

The problem with that is that the issue won't be resolved in 15 days.  This is a carry over from the December 5th tendon sheath injection.

I love the way that  Billy stepped on your big bet.  You guys think that nobody knows what you are doing but we all know that you are stiffing and betting.  You guys have done that for many years and everyone knows it.  I really enjoyed it when you bet me on top and called me a cheater when I finished 2nd.  Stepped on your bet pretty good that time and remain happy about it. You think you are so smart but in fact you are just a smart ass!

We need names (other than yours, of course, because you’re not afraid to say who you are).

i just can't understand why Mr. Bercury feels the need to argue with t.s. What's the point? You can type until your fingers fall off and people are going to believe what they want. It just seems like an unnecessary headache to me.

!What is the % of carry over for approx a little over 6 mo. Are there studies or just conjecture from the vet. It is still trainers responsibility, it is still in the horses system, it is still YOUR responsibility. It is not the states responsibility to make sure your horse is cleared of the original illegal substance. Give the money back! If you haven´t had a re test I sure would.
