So people who race horses are not real people? What are they soylent green . It is not welfare anymore than a teacher getting paid, since lotto revenue in NY State all goes to education. I am not saying horse racing is more important to teaching. At last check the people in the race horse industry WORK for their money. I have one trainer I swear works 90-100 hours a week. I have a trainer who drove home from Northfield, got back at 430 and went right to the barn.
That said the horsemen have many people who will want to come for the money because it is an easy target.
