Title: Greedy Heartless Trainers
Post by: Zoooooming By! on November 04, 2019, 06:53:40 PM
Tonight at Yonkers Troy Beyer made the commitment and is driving #7 (only drive), who probably won't get a check.

Dan Dube is not there tonight, so you would think maybe some trainers would give this kid some drives. NONE!

That is just how this sport has ended up. Disgraceful.

Your one of the reasons I see, that make the 3rd line of my comment true.

Young guys deserve a chance.  Thing is, a lot of those interns are so self-absorbed that they think they've already made it.  not all; but some.  And, know it all.  So, given that - why not just go with someone that really does know it all.

The other irritation is, after giving these newbies some favor - the minute they have a choice, they pick off your entry.  So, while your point is ever well taken.  Loyalty, a trait that is often low priority in this sports, should be a 2 way street.

I remember those days well. It just takes time. I had no family at all in the business and started as a groom like everyone else. I'd show up early and go training miles or qualifiers for anyone that asked. I'd go to fairs and would drive anything that wasn't hobbling on 3 legs. You pay your dues and if you're good the trainers will find you. And you remember who gave you the breaks early on

Beyer drives like a cardboard cut-out with gorilla glue on his gloves...needs more balls when the "hole" closes

Yonkers is not the place to hone your driving skills! Since he is obviously not a natural, get out of town and learn your craft! Those guys there will embarrass you and trainers don't need you practicing after they work all week getting the horse ready!

Troy Beyer sucks. Let him go to Monticello if he wants drives.

I agree 100% on your loyalty comment...Needs to be a two way street especially with the newbies... the moment they have a choice and start to get more drives than what they originally started with, they forget who were the ones who put them up first. I get it, it's a sport and everyone wants to win however it'd be nice to know that once their name is known they don't forget where they started, or better WHO they started with
