All the gamblers will be dead
J bong still juicing them
Bobby somolin son.. Rollin, yes that is the poor kids name, will be leading groom and warm up driver
-
No real horses, just robots, driverless. Really, in 20 years I expect the number of tracks to be 50% less than today. Little guy will be a dinosaur. No more place and show betting. Game is dying a slow death.
-
All that will remain are mile and 7/8 mile tracks. And pompano of course but that track will be down to racing walkovers.
The 1/2 mile and 5/8 tracks will be replaced by sports books and slots. If industry is lucky, one or two of these tracks may be influenced (quid pro quo for getting sports books and more slots)to aquire mile locations which will keep the industry going for another 25 yrs.
Lucs eggnore list will be up to 5 people. ngc3

No freaking way that kid's still alive in 20 years! Ira however, will still be alive, still mooching off of JB and his millions.

New Hampshire tried that a few years ago as an alternative to casino gambling. Bettors would wager on horse races raced in the past from Rockingham. As with casino gambling, never passed.

Hopefully there will be major contraction and the most "successful" tracks will have "super" meets that run for 6-8 weeks. Perhaps eliminating the overwhelming amount of different wagers will make it less confusing to the novice bettor or a newcomer. I know neither will happen , but I can dream.

harness racing will probably only exist as a video game on x-box.

There are MANY owners/breeders/trainers, etc. in this business that are up there in age-- 50+ if not older. Once they leave the scene, who will pick up the slack?
millenials have zero interest in harness racing
there is your answer?

The "degenerate" gene is still passed down from dad. I know many millenials already hooked on harness.

As stupid as this may sound. If you want to engage the younger generation and get their attention, that thinking is the correct approach. These kids live in a virtual world, so how do you translate that into Harness Racing to spur their interest. Everyone agrees we need bettors, but you need to get them in the building or to at least watch and understand the game first. The technology exists to make the business more interactive.

First u need :
Massive Comps (as the casinos offer...buffets.. Free Play)
If u donot have the freebies u are deadwood....
Also...all the old plants need to be shuttered.....
they need NEW infrastructure with sportsbars, casinos,
entertainment,sportsbooks, etcetc
The "old" harness tracks ...??? it is over
Elvis has left the building....
This is 2018 soon 2019......
ONly a few track operators have a clue.....
and ...luv him or not ....Jeff Gural is a visionary....
Stop by at Tioga Downs....and see what a racetrack
should look like.....or Pocono Downs......
Hotel, Casino, restaurants, Sportsbars, etc etc
Modern......no 1940's motif.....the young crowd
wants glitz....
As one 20 something said.....
"who wants to waste an evening watching dumb horses go round in circles???
BORRRRRRRRRINGGGG GGGGG. "
lots of city kids are inti upscale eats, sushi bars etc....
cutting edge restaurants.....
Have u been to BRooklyn NY lately???
Unbelievable what is going on.....

Gotta find a way to parlay link a now legal sports bet with a horse race to generate interest...it would force any generation of sports bettor to pay attention to a horse track, even at a small introductory level.
ie..maybe exclusively on saturdays to start.. 330p et college football game with say, the delmar feature..both results hit about 630p et. Would create excitement...and/or which you could parlay maybe that night's 730p nba start. Milwaukee and Toronto with meadowlands feature, both results hitting around 10p et.

Lucpark stops selling Cars and Trucks , Gonna train Trotters and Pacers for Jennifer.
-
Bottom line......
wagering on harness races has fallen out of favour....
the only players are 60 over crowd.....
have u seen the evening simulcast players ???
It is like a welfare office....or retirement village....
and this.....??? will support the Industry????
Surely, u jest????
watching a few harness races for the crowd that is into it
is great.....but few care anymore......
Even the Tbreds Belmont and Aqu gets a smaller
crowd than old days.....
Interest just not there....and most have busted out...
With the ridiculous 26 and 27 opening quarters that
the drivers go.....the product is unhandicapable... ....
so ....players have moved on......quite simple.
U used to be able to actually handicap YR.....
A 3-5 or 2-5 would win a good 85% of the time...
NOt so now....they lose 1/2 the time.....way overbet.

If many translates into thousands then we in good shape.
-
I have that Gene!

In 20 yrs harness racing will be like horse and oxen pulling, people will be racing for the fun of it, blankets and coolers !!
-
not many 20 and 30 yr old players are "Hooked on harness"
I donot see any......maybe 1 ......
and he usually bets Tbreds....
Harness Racing? who plays?
look at the handle on YR Pocono..not alot
I have seen races at YR where the purse is higher than the race handle!!!!

Real bettors would rather bet shit horses on a mile track rather than the best horses on half miles. Fact.
-
Real bettors don't bet Real money on shit horses period, only you chronic losers do. Real bettors look for consistency and cheap horses don't offer that, ever
-
The big change is that there will be no harness racing.

Dead wrong dude!!! Artsplace is correct. We wager more on shit horses full of drugs by the best chemists! The only change in harness racing in the next 20 years will be more powerful drugs!
