If greyhound racing is cruel, why isnt horse racing? Nobody's whipping greyhounds around the track...if greyhound racing goes down, horse racing is doomed in florida.

The entire dog racing industry in Florida is going to get screwed based off the minority of assholes that abuse animals
And unfortunately amendment 3 will pass giving voters the power to vote on casino gambling

It is sad that the current casinos find away to pass the same bill in every state to make sure they don't have competition. Letting the people decide is such a simple con to stop gambling expansion.
If it is about the dogs, ending racing does what for the greyhound breed. How long before they are extinct?

The state and all other states is about managing the numbers. Not people. So, if one entity (dog racing) is barking up the wrong tree, it will be replaced by producing entity, like casinos.

More proof why I call people in Florida slow blinkers. Saddest thing about liberals is they move to nice places and then bring with them their views that ruined where they are from originally. Florida is an example of this with people moving in from left wing countries and the northeast. Traverse city Mi is fighting it with the people moving their from Chicagoland.

this vote on the dog tracks being eliminated passed, so they are being phased out by 2020. anyone know what this means for the spiffy card room at Best Bet Jacksonville and others?
my prediction is by 2025 only Gulfstream Park in Hallandale ad Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar will be the only 2 racetracks in operation.

Tracks with card rooms now, can continue to operate them, even when they choose to stop dog racing. It is up to each individual racetrack when they choose to stop the racing.

Whatever you logic, you are hoping for people's livelihoods to be taken away. The money doesn't come from the government unless you consider the ss checks lost in slot machines as from the government. Do you cheer for farmers to lose their subsidies too?

Your point would apply in basic economics but this isn't basic economics. The gambling market is highly regulated and controlled by the government. Once they introduced slots to the track owners, they crippled horse racing. Still today they control what kind of games they can offer when stand a lone casinos are allowed to be vegas style casinos.

Wait a second, harness racing was thriving before slots were introduced? Give me a fucking break. In PA, for instance, casino gambling was advertised as a way to save horse racing. 73cv.2
And yes, I agree that gambling itself its not a situation that would conform to the laws of the efficient market hypothesis. That said, the notion that an industry must be saved because competition harmed it is utterly idiotic. If a superior product is introduced, and another one goes by the wayside, them the breaks. That wasn't what i stated but I guess you missed the point. Its not free market! Racing was thriving before the government allowed casinos everywhere and then didnt let them have the same kind of games the casinos had and have.
