Watched the greatest horse race gambling movie of all time last night for about the 40th time. Let It Ride. What a classic. But the BEST line of all comes in the Jockey Club room when Trotters wife wants to know why can't they just watch the horses go around the track without betting on them. Trotter tells her "WITHOUT GAMBLING, THERE IS NO HORSE RACING". ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Maybe SOME people in harness racing need to LEARN THAT. OR are they just willing to suck on the teat that's been GIVEN to them?

David Johansen was in that movie....great musician. As was Terri Garr in the movie as well who had one of her first TV appearances as the desk girl selling flight insurance in the Odd Couple, which is another show with frequent horse racing themes.

Best line was at the end, when the announcer goes Oh My God because the race was so tight, and that guy with all the gold chains on, says where did My God come from

Very true - I was actually there the night(s) they were filming.

Filmed at Pompano. Lots of drivers from that era participated in the shoot. Bill Popfinger plays the driver that stuck his heels in and got attacked by Pesci.
Easy Money(1983)...... Rodney Dangerfield and Joe Pesci..... harness stiff job where driver tanks in the lane going so far as dragging his feet on the track to slow the horse up..... Pesci jumps the fence to beat the crap out of the driver on the way back to the paddock.... a classic for what the games state of cheating is today.

Let it Ride is one of the best of all times. Includes a very interesting and real parody of characters at the track. Real, albeit slightly exaggerated, but some nights not much.

Documentary American Greed 1-6 David H Brooks. Shows Timesareachanging winning LBJ while American soldiers were being killed because of sub standard body armor. The savings Brooks earned while screwing the govt on body armor he put in to harness horses. A real highlight for harness racing.
