Huge crowd expected. Even though the Cup itself is only 800,000 is has brought Australia's best horses over again
Probably Australia's greatest ever horse in Leap to Fame 96 Starts 76 Wins 15 seconds and 3 thirds for $7.1 million His half brother Swayzee who has won this race twice and has beaten is brother at least 3 times. NZ trainers don't train their horses hard enough like the Aussies do, they go three wide around the world and don't stop. They have been doing it for years and sadly, they do it every year of late. And their Mare Captain's Mistress who has given Leap to Fame one of his defeats is sitting this race out to run in the Sprint (Yes, 1980 meters or close to a mile and a quarter is considered a sprint over there) against these on Show Day which is Friday 3 days later.
Check out the high quality program they put out with everything about cup day including how much food is consumed
