Title: Breeders Crown Night 1 Summary
Post by: JT on October 17, 2026, 09:25:14 AM
Everyone on here knows I was there last night since I live in Delaware
So a few brief observations..

The crowd was awful. I know the weather sucked, like really sucked, but I was shocked there weren't more people in the clubhouse at least. It was half full. Grandstand was empty, maybe 20 people including my brother and I freezing our asses off ngc3
I always stick up for my state, but that was pitiful Ohio.

The handle sucked, about $700,000. I don't think there was any CAW in play which is good for the gambler but bad for optics if anyone truly cares in the first place The post drag was awful, but was expected

The races were kind of average. That is to be expected with eliminations where making the final is really the only goal. The track crew did a good job. Multiple track records broken last night

The best horses or best performances go to Blazin Lou and Starstruck Dreamer
Impressive miles in those conditions. The 2 year old colt pace final is completely loaded with talent and will be a phenomenal race next week which will also have Shalom Hanover, Mr. Bear, Eastie Boy and Night Surfer

Honorable mentions to Blue Ranger, Big Ranger's full sister and Lifetime Dreamer 2 CT

Finally my brother and I bet 187 and won 128 for a $59 loss
We don't go ape shit betting together like I do solo. Pools to small. To much chalk.

Breeders Crown held in late October in the north at a facility without a climate controlled grandstand. Very smart! Nobody in harness racing cares about the customer/fan.

The new grandstand is very nice
October is weird here in central Ohio
It can snow this time of year, tonight is going to be our first frost..or you can have it like 2 days ago when it was over 80 degrees  ngc3

Since the Breeders Crown changed to having all the races at one track, I have attended every time it has been at Woodbine, Mohawk, and Pocono. The weather has never been great.  It has been horrible at Pocono. I have seen snow at both Woodbine and Mohawk. One year most of the drivers did not make it because of the snow. Pocono, Scioto, and the Red Mile do not have an enclosed grandstand. That is not customer/ fan friendly.
