Post by: darnoldrocks on September 15, 2026, 01:21:03 PM
Check out the videos and pedigrees and tell us who you would purchase and why???

I'll start it.

Hip 63   Jarlsberg       Walner colt out of Manchego.  (her 2nd foal)   What a Mom!!!
- video: he is a good size and really nicely gaited up front

Will take a lot to live up to expectations with that blood line.  Might bring $800k+

Well, he won't be the sales topper, and he's by a $12k stud (in his first year, and is lower now)----and I didn't see him last time I was at the farm-----but Steve Jones has got a colt by Tactical Approach out Venerable selling on day two (I think).

I don't shop at that end of the market, LOL, but I do look at all the royally bred yearlings for many reasons. I haven't seen the colt, but I am interested to see what Walner colt out of Manchego looks like.

I don't shop at that end of the market either, but this is my favorite time of year.   I look at as many videos and pedigrees from Lexington, Pennsylvania and London.
I always make notes what I like and don't like about a video.   I'm very interested in what other folks see or look for, that I don't.
Personally I look for some energy in the video.   I like the start of a big ass and big chest.  I like a horse that lands square in the front, feet not landing narrow and I don't like when they really flip their front feet out to the side.

Could be. $800k would put him just outside the top 5 highest priced trotting yearlings ever sold. Ironically, IIRC, only two of the top five were fillies.

Ok, that explains the anti Mike sentiment of yours.
