There was a time when harness racing was so popular post times were set at 8pm so people could get home to have dinner, freshen up then go back out on a weeknight to huge crowds who gladly paid to park and admission. Some also paid to sit. They paid for a program. They paid to eat and drink. And they also wagered. It was at this same time that harness racing didn't beg for at take a penny from any form of subsidy to continue. The end.

Back in the 70’s when Albatross would race at Brandywine on a Saturday night you couldn’t get a parking spot anywhere near the track . Neighborhood people would sell parking spots on their front lawns. Traffic would be backed up for miles to get to the track. Those days are long gone Harness Racing has been in free fall for a long time.
