Title: is it--
Post by: rainman2 on August 27, 2026, 07:00:22 PM
lakes of americas or lake ontario?

FYI-Canada holds approximately 52% to 53% of Lake Ontario's total surface area. The international border splits the lake as follows:Canadian Waters (Province of Ontario): Roughly 52%–53% (~3,880 square miles / 10,200 square kilometers).United States Waters (State of New York): Roughly 47%–48% (~3,460 square miles / 8,800 square kilometers). While Canada owns the majority of the surface area, the U.S. side contains deeper trenches, meaning the total water volume is distributed closer to an even split. Under the Boundary Waters Treaty, both nations share equal rights to navigation across the entire lake.

While we're here-

the gulf of the america or the gulf of Mexico!

FYI-When analyzing the division of the Gulf of Mexico between the United States and Mexico, the percentages depend on whether you are looking at Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) or the physical coastline.Exclusi ve Economic Zone (EEZ) TerritoryThe division of maritime jurisdiction and resource rights under international frameworks is split relatively evenly between the two largest bordering nations:Mexico: ~48% of the Gulf's maritime territory.United States: ~45% of the Gulf's maritime territory.Cuba: ~5% to 7% makes up the remainder.(Note: Depending on how the continental shelf vs. accessible deepwater zones are calculated, some databases evaluate the usable maritime territory split slightly differently at roughly 40% for the U.S., 38% for Mexico, and 12% for Cuba).

LOL! Premier Wab Kinew of Manitoba, Canada gives the PERFECT response to Trump trying to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America," says he's like a washed up musician.
This is just too perfect...
"You know when like a rock band is really over the hill and you see them like in a casino playing some song from like 50 years ago?" said Kinew. "I think that's the part of Donald Trump's presidency we're at now."
"Like he thought he had a real hit, a real golden oldie with the Gulf of Mexico and he's trying to bring back that," he added. "He's trying to play the hits for his base but I think everybody here thinks it's a little sad and it's not his best work."
Earlier today, Trump held a big pathetic event in the Oval Office to officially sign an order directing the pointless renaming. The move comes amidst his new, self-destructive trade war with Canada and escalating, deranged rhetoric against our closest ally.
"The lake change, the Lake of America, was something I've been thinking about for a long time, actually," Trump said during the signing.
The renaming has gone over like a lead balloon with average Americans who are struggling to afford groceries, gas, and rent due to Trump's disastrous Iran War. Everyone outside of the MAGA cult sees this as a transparent attempt to distract from his myriad failures. It's akin to jangling keys in front of a cat.

The U.S. president clapped back on social media, referring to the Ontario premier as "Flunky Ford" and the "less charismatic, intelligent," version of his late brother, Rob Ford.

Ewasko said Kinew gave an interview to the New York Post for an article that referred to the premier as “an ex-con rapper turned Canadian politician playing tough guy in the trade war with us mocking President Trump.”

Ewasko said Kinew expensed the $1,514 trip to Vancouver and accused him of campaigning for the B.C. NDP on the Manitoba taxpayers’ dime. He asked him to apologize and pay it back.

REAL LEADER! Prime Minister Mark Carney hits back HARD at Trump's pathetic "Lake America" renaming — says it will be Lake Ontario "then, now and always."
This is going to drive MAGA off a ledge...
"The name of Lake Ontario derives from the Wendat word 'Ontari’io', which means 'the lake is beautiful, the lake is great," Carney wrote on X in French.
"This name dates back more than 400 years, well before the Canadian Confederation and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America," he continued.
"We know that the United States is changing. Their trade relations, their foreign policy, their national monuments, their hydronyms," Carney added. "Canadian women and men also know that things must be called by their name, and this lake is called Lake Ontario – then, now and always."
As usual, Carney struck the perfect balance between firm confidence and restrained class. He also managed to slide in a great little trolling jab with his use of the word "hydronyms" because there's no way in hell Trump knows what it means. It means the names for bodies of water, so Carney is also referring to Trump's pathetic effort to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico into the "Gulf of America."
This entire story is a transparent attempt by Trump to distract from his failed Iran War and our teetering economy. He can't pass any legislation because he's too lazy to design any, so he's taken to scrawling on maps with a Sharpie.
Carney is right that Canadians will just continue to call it Lake Ontario, but so will most Americans. Only the most diehard MAGA cultists are on board with this asinine idea and Trump has no control over our words. When the next Democratic President is sworn in, they can undo this farce with the stroke of a pen.

DEMENTIA DONNIE continues to shine on the world stage yet again!

NOTHING BUT MOCKERY! Trump’s Lake America stunt BACKFIRES as Democrats roast his petty map fantasy.
Reactions have been pouring onto social media after Donald Trump unilaterally decided to officially change the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America” earlier today — and the vast majority of the responses consist of people mocking the dementia-ridden president for his pettiness and for his seeming inability to pay attention to the real problems this country currently faces.
And while many of the responses reflect the anger and frustration that the majority of U.S. citizens feel towards the incompetent nincompoop in the White House, some of the best replies torch Trump with humor.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker knew exactly how to push Trump’s buttons, when he took to X to post this missive: “EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Trump Tower is renamed to NATALIE TOWER!” Pritzker accompanied his post with a photo of the Chicago version of Trump Tower with the Trump name x-ed out in red and replaced with the name of Trump’s notorious White House sycophant and diaper carrier.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers was so inspired by Trump’s renaming of one of the Great Lakes, that he decided to give a new appellation to the lake bordering his own state. He posted a video of himself sitting in a McDonalds with a cup of coffee scribbling on a brown paper napkin, with the caption “And I just renamed Lake Michigan Lake Wisconsin.” He dryly added, “See, I can sign napkins that say things, too.”
Of course, some of the replies were deadly serious in calling out Trump for the absurdity of his actions at a time when the country has so many important issues to solve.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders summed up the mood with his post:
“No, President Trump. The American people don’t want to rename Lake Ontario Lake America. They want affordable healthcare, childcare, housing, education & nutrition assistance — all of which you have massively cut in order to pay for your $1 trillion tax break to the top 1%.”
Congressman Tim Kennedy (D-NY) who represents the area of Western New York that borders the lake, put his own spin on the issue, slamming Trump’s stupid transformation of Canada from a trusted ally to America’s latest punching bag.
“Lake Ontario will always be Lake Ontario. Canada is our closest ally, friend, and economic partner. Western New Yorkers understand how unique and consequential our relationship is with the Canadian people,” Kennedy posted. “This illogical trade war, and absurd and juvenile rhetoric from Donald Trump, will cost us jobs on both sides of the border. Meanwhile, families are struggling to survive, and Trump is proving just how out of touch he is, ripping away healthcare, cutting nutrition assistance, and driving up costs with tariffs and an illegal war of choice in the Middle East. America deserves a president who puts the American people first. Trump continues to fail that test, proving that he’ll always be the worst president in our nation’s history.”
It’s hard to argue with Rep. Kennedy about that assessment. How much longer will the American people have to suffer with this demented lunatic in charge?
We’re just waiting for Canada to retaliate by changing the name of Lake Erie to “Lake Epstein.” Two can play this childish game.
Please like and share if you want a president who focuses on real issues, not petty and vindictive publicity stunts!

Somebody hide the maps — Trump has another petty grievance.
On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order directing the Interior Department to recognize Lake Ontario as “Lake America” in the United States’ geographic naming system.
The order arrived amid his escalating trade fight with Canada, transforming a shared body of water into the latest victim of Trump’s moods.
Prime Minister Mark Carney responded with the political equivalent of adjusting his cufflinks before delivering a history lesson.
The lake touches New York and the Canadian province that bears its name.
Its waters have sustained Indigenous nations for generations, connected communities across an international border and carried commerce between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic.
A presidential signature can alter terminology used by American federal agencies, true.
Canada, mapmakers and the rest of humanity retain their own vocabularies.
Carney’s reply also carried an unmistakable warning: power cannot manufacture truth simply by issuing an order.
Geography comes with history, memory, and people who already know where they are.
In conclusion, we have to ask (again): doesn’t Trump have anything better to do?

"You cannot rename away our history!" Chief Margaret Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation DESTROYS Trump's pathetic attempt to rename Lake Ontario.
The MAGA cult leader really bit off more than he can chew this time...
"Lake Ontario has existed for thousands of years, long before Canada and the United States became the countries we know today," Sault told Yahoo News Canada.
The word "Ontario" is rooted in indigenous language, although scholars disagree on the precise etymology. The government of Ontario officially traces it back to the Iroquois word "kanadario" which translates roughly to "sparkling water."
Earlier today, our sweaty, demented, pedophile of a President held a big splashy event in the Oval Office to scrawl on a map with a Sharpie and sign a document declaring that Lake Ontario is now "Lake America." It's the same tacky stunt that he attempted with the Gulf of America, but his administration is such a disaster now that only the most diehard MAGA cultists are falling for the distraction.
"For the Mississaugas of the Credit, this is not simply a lake on a map. It is part of our homeland and part of our history as a Nation," said Sault.
The MCFN has a long, storied connection to the western Lake Ontario area and their rights to the land are etched in a treaty dating back to 1806, after which they still controlled hundreds of thousands of acres and retained fishing rights at the Credit River, 12 Mile Creek and 16 Mile Creek.
"You can change a label on a map, but you cannot change the relationship that our people have with these lands and waters," said Sault. "You cannot rename away our history."
Trump's desperate renaming attempt is a transparent effort to pull headlines away from his failed Iran War and the Epstein files. At the same time, it's throwing red meat to his hooting, xenophobic followers who love it every time he insults or attacks a foreign country or marginalized group. These people will gladly let him torch the economy, drag us into endless wars, and cover up his sex crimes so long as they can chant "USA" at his rallies in a mindless braying mob.
Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish sided with the Mississaugas of the Credit in a post on X—
"Dear Mr. Trump:  Since the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation established their homes close to and along the shores of this lake, it has been our lifeblood," she wrote. "I, and everyone in Mississauga, am proud to be living along the shores of LAKE ONTARIO. We will defend its good name!"
As for us, we stand with Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Canada. What about you?
We call on the next Democratic President to sign an order on day one rescinding the renaming!
