All you idiots are missing the point regarding the Hambletonian. Your feelings regarding Gural should be irrelevant if you are a supporter of Harness Racing, as having The Hambletonian anywhere but The Meadowlands is horrible for the industry. Having the race at Hoosier is like the NFL having the Super Bowl at a High School stadium.

Do you think the people from Goshen were upset when it left ? Do you think the people from DuQuoin were upset when it left ? Hambo left both places because of a better offer and obviously it had a better offer to move t o Hoosier?

What's you point ? Meadowlands racing is a far cry from its hay day lots of cheap horses and unheard of driver's and trainer's. How many breeding farm are left ? Indiana has one of the largest breeding programs in the US.

Look at the stallions in Indiana vs. other states. That says it all. One track in the state.

well Ohio is way better and the Indiana stallions are pretty laughable compared to most states

Many empty seats the last few years so not many fans. I bet there will be more Amish at Hoosier than all the fans at the Mlands

yes there will be alot of fans...meadowland s is sort of unique its in a bad location...north jersey is just different, when the big m moved to the other building, attendance dropped big time..its very hot there on the pavement with the sun which was opposite of how it hit in the other building. Production wise no one puts on a better show that the Meadowlands on big racing days like Hambo and Pace night..none.
Hoosier will not be able to replicate that at a casino...i saw the crowd for the dan patch wasnt impressed..very old very overweight, yes Hoosier will have good attendance for this but are they betting..does it give the society warms fuzzies to have a big crowd but a handle under 4 million....how about the people flying into Indiana, its not nyc is it.

Roughly 12 million people within ten mile radius including the five boroughs of NYC surrounding The Meadowlands. They handled $6,158,290 this year. Come on, this is the best the best could do for harness racing in the states??? Reality, the public doesn't want it. Numbers don't lie.

yes gural brought this on himself by not renewing when he had control
personally i dont like the racing style at hoosier, very boring
but i agree with the point it is not good for racing overall

It is bad for the industry.. but having said that, the location of the Hambo would not save an industry that is dying a slow death one track at a time.
Like Mike P mentioned handle was down and the production wasn't great.
Its unfortunate that J Campbell and Gural couldn't compromise and come to some sort of agreement, but after reading the article posted on another thread, that was never going to happen. Seems like alot of bad blood between them.
Hell I will definitely make the trek though from Delaware to Anderson and cross this item off my bucket list.

I read a posted article on the decision to move the Hambo. and I think both parties should have worked it out to stay at the Meadowlands. I would think that if they let Gural go year-to-year with hosting the Hambo, it might have worked. I agree with Gural that the 25 million people who live within 25 miles of the Meadowlands is a big factor for attendance and handle. I wish it would have stayed at the Meadowlands. I too love tradition. But I'm a realist. The decision has been made. So for harness racing interests and for the locals who will host the event, I wish them good luck. My wife and I have never been to Indiana so maybe we'll see the next one there.

I dont know what u mean by production isnt good. The day is wonderful if you are a harness fan. The tv show media and undercard is outstanding
