Blanche May Be a Bigger Liar Than Trump
“The Attorney General represents the United States in legal matters generally and gives advice and opinions to the President and to the heads of the executive departments of the Government when so requested.” — From the DOJ website “About” page.
“No, I’m not going to pledge that. And no attorney general should ever pledge that.” That was the response new Attorney General Todd Blanche gave to Kristen Welker when he appeared Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press. Welker had asked Blanche, the newly confirmed AG if he would assure the nation that the federal justice department he helms would always act independently of the White House and Donald Trump.
The quote at the top of this article specifies that the Attorney General “represents the United States in legal matters”, not the President of the United States. And it has been clear that the Attorney General under Trump 2.0 has been doing the bidding of Donald Trump, not the people of the United States.
“The president will never ask me to do something unethical or illegal,” Blanche told Welker. “He never has. He never will. And no, I have – I swore to the constitution of the United States, like every cabinet secretary has done, and like every attorney general before me has done. And so, this narrative that’s mostly pushed by the left and pushed by the media that the president’s going to pull me aside and ask me to do something illegal is completely a false narrative, not true, will not happen and hasn’t happened.”
I’m thinking that the time has come to pass a law that requires anyone on who goes on a news show to be put under oath, because there have been many documented cases where Donald Trump has demanded the DOJ to do thing that, at a minimum, would be considered unethical if not downright illegal. Let’s just look at a few.
Trump publicly called for James Comey to be prosecuted and pressed the DOJ to pursue charges. This is potentially vindictive/selective prosecution, and it also broke strongly with the traditional independence of prosecutors. He also did the same against New York Attorney General Leticia Jackson. This is especially problematic because James had previously prosecuted Trump, creating an obvious retaliation/conflict-of-interest appearance. Trump has demanded that the DOJ target other of his political opponents as well.
A federal judge in a 2026 case involving the investigation of Letitia James, wrote that when the executive branch circumvents congressional restrictions and then uses its power to subject a political adversary to criminal investigation, it is acting without lawful authority.
Trump has the DOJ investigating officials including former Fed Chair Jerome Powell and Fed Governor Lisa Cook in an attempt to pack the Federal Reserve, an independent agency, to get them to do his bidding. This raises concerns about using criminal law to pressure an independent federal institution. This is especially concerning based on Trump’s track record with other supposedly independent agencies and the Trump regimes belief in the Unitary Executive Theory.
Trump recently told the DOJ to explore new charges against former Olympian David Hearn even after prosecutors had already moved to dismiss the case because they admitted the evidence showed the damage was caused by a “botched install”. This is another example of presidential pressure on a specific prosecutorial decision.
Trump has ordered the DOJ to investigate alleged government “weaponization” by his political opponents.
Donald Trump has used his DOJ as a revenge tool against his perceived enemies. Even though he knows the DOJ will never get a conviction in most cases, he orders them to break the law and norms everyday, because this is not about the law and it’s not about imprisonment. It is about harassment, persecution and retaliation against his enemies. The incidents I’ve mentioned are but a few of the many incidents that are examples of Trump demanding the DOJ to do unethical or illegal act that are calling Todd Blanche a liar. 🤥

There are still 3 million Epstein files records that have not released and what has been released has been redacted to protect the guilty. And more BS excuses why they can’t release the remainder, cynically claiming they were protecting the victims.
