way too many races..but made big $$$
They cooked and deep fried this poor horse the last
1/2 dozen starts...
Sure , they can win another race or 2
but this is really an embarrassment for the sport
to watch...
This guy was just beat by Jack Panic..a NW 6000
pacer.
What is the end goal here?

Combination of two things. One, the horse is not the same horse as last year. Health or whatever. Two, he was dramatically the class leader last year. Got to the head of the class first, faster, and by a massive margin over the rest. Now the rest of the class closed the gap. It's too bad.

Why is it the trainer gets most of the glory for a winning horse and then the driver takes all the grief when it stops?
There needs to be some serious questioning of how this horse has been handled over 2 years. That's you DOC!

He was a $90k yearling that put almost $2 million in the bank. Pretty good investment. I'd say he was handled ok.

Moore is an excellent horseman. Period. Well respected, well liked, and admired by his peers. This site may be a completely different story, but what else is new, LOL. You'll hear he's a vet, this, that, and the other thing. Bottom line, the guy has an amazing track record. After dinner speakers and Monday morning QB's will criticize how he managed the colt last year-----too many starts, bad driver selection, and who knows what else. Nobody is doing a better job than Moore this year. Horse, not trainer.

Doc Moore's 2 year olds have a distinct advantage
over 90% of the Mohawk 2 year olds..
They are not winter trained on icy track missing weeks
but trained in Florida..
By the time they ship North they are 1-2 months
ahead of virtually all the OSS 2 year olds.
Doc builds them up as well with his secret sauce.
all muscled up better than most of the opposition
he spots lameness problems alot faster as well than the
other trainers.
By far a superior trainer than the vast majority of
WEG's...and his record speaks volumes...

i guess we'll get a chance to see what Doc has done to improve this horse for a big race, with a big driver.

Jangle needs a fresh pair of eyes in order to get his Jingle back.The first thing that someone different does,may be the last thing someone else thinks of. If the problem is known and remedies are being implemented in order to try to circumvent it, it's clearly time for an extended break in order to rectify the issue.

Doc Moore has forgotten more about horses than most horsemen, especially the young punks. Don't believe me: just check out how well about five horses have done since leaving his barn last year---all going to the juice heads who thought they were going to crush. Joel and the Jets, oops straight to zero. Ask Mitch Cushing how he's liking Set Shot. The horse was managed perfectly: never set foot on a van with the exception of a 30 minute run over to Grand River where he didn't even have to race in the elimination. He just didn't improve and also suffered a physical set back and further to that the others smelt blood and raced him hard. That's usually doesn't end up well. I wouldn't be the least surprised if Doc gets him to win a few major ones before this season is over. Was he great Saturday, no but he did come a big big back half in against salty older foes.

When Gullucci had the great filly suffer a similar fate every moron that has never even mucked a stall had the arrows at like he was his fault. It is what it is, he might be done and I'm not so sure that many will suffer the same fate as they torch these things like T-breds nowadays but don't manage them like T-breds.

Raced about 24 minutes last year and less that 20 minutes total this year. Melillo has raced more and it peaking. Maybe he should have raced more.

Maybe "managing him to a T last year", is what caused him to be cooked as a 3 year old. It's the job of the trainer to keep his horse healthy. If success is sucking the life out of them at 2 and winning as much as you can, DOC did his job. If an extended racing career is your goal, DOC hasn't delivered.

Big Big effort, he crushed a 6 horse field in n/w 2 and staggered home in 29 and a piece looking to get beat. Another fucking moron

With all due respect, how do you know the horse was put away as sound and healthy as possible? Do they do xrays and scans of all their legs. Do they do imaging of lungs and other internals? "He came back so so." Maybe because they absolutely over used the horse at 2. Leaving to the front or gunning him first up by the quarter pole, racing the shit out of him. You are taking your chances, setting the pace every race as a 2 yr old, that you are leaving less and less in the tank at 3. As for winning top races for years, anyone with the owners investing as much as his owners do, better win their share of top races. And I'm willing to attribute it as much to poor management than I am poor driving. What came first, a cooked horse or poor driving??

What happened is, he didn't improve as much from 2 to 3 as some other horses did and they've caught up to and overtaken him. Can he rebound, who knows.
