Serves the owners right. They'll never know if Gillespie would have won that race on Big Ranger.

Still find Ronnie Gillespie's version of what happened hard to believe, think there's more to the story than what he said.

That pedigree was always going to make him heavily coveted but showing that kind of ticker is nice to see as well

Believe Ronnie 100%. He said I want to drive in Hambo and BC and owners said NO. Pretty simple and owners have the right to do what they did.

Apex was exhausted after that race. Took him forever to make his way back to the winners circle. What an imolpressive well demeanor champion and you can tell tge bond he has with his caretaker

Great to see both Dunn and Melander finally get a Hambo

Bingo!  Seeing that young girl, I assume his groom, hug and kiss Apex the whole way back to the winners circle and the horse responding to her was just one more reason to be happy that Apex beat Big Ranger (and the Gillespie “Screw Crew”).

If you look at Apex's last 3 races, everyone of them he was collared midway stretch and every time he dug in deep and would not let  anyone by.
     Gutsy and full of heart.

I hope they will race him back at four. But with his pedigree and 1:49.2 Hambo win, his stud value is all ready what ever number they want to put on him. The best part, the year isn't done.

A hell of a race. Apex was dead game! Absolutely dead game, as if he knew where the wire was. Great performance.
