Running Aces smashes handle record on Sunday
Posted on August 3, 2026 by Darin Gagne, for Running Aces Casino, Hotel and Racetrack
Columbus, MN – Running Aces had a record setting night on Sunday (Aug. 2) as bettors wagered a total of $654,779 on the 12-race program at the Minnesota five-eighths mile oval. The previous handle record at Running Aces was $414,945 set back in 2022.
It was a solid 12-program that featured the $50,000 Dan Patch final as well as a mandatory payout for the track’s 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot wager, which had gone unclaimed through the first 31 nights of the season and offered a carryover of $49,845 coming into the Sunday program.
Players enthusiastically responded to the opportunity for added value and pumped over $215,000 in new money into the Pick-5 wager.
The sequence for the Jackpot force-out bet began with the Dan Patch race that went to heavy favorite Cash Money Twenty and driver Casey Leonard who paid $2.80. Wisco Wild Card and Nick Roland provided some fireworks at 25-1 in leg two (paying $52.80) and the sequence then saw back-to-back second choice winners in Fox Valley Ozzy (Gary Rath, $7.60) and It’s Pointless (Dean Magee, $5.40) before race 12 favorite Marc In The Box (Brady Jenson, $4.60) delivered the goods to close out the night.
The 20-cent payout for winning Pick-5 tickets was $541.32.

Yup thriving all right. Maybe try math...it's not that hard. Handle * takeout - purses.
Guess what it's in the negative genius.

I've said this a million times the game is thriving!! Good horses that stay sound can't help but make money

Too bad your brain isn't thriving.
-
roughly 33% of the record handle is due to the fact they had a mandatory payout --in which CAW action is unusually heavy
Assiniboia Downs last night handled $4.9 mil.....-a record....--due to a mandatory payout in which $2.5 mil of fresh CAW money was wagered on another mandatory payout
you can read these data points any way you like-the reality is the record handles were because fresh CAW money flooded the pools-basically screwing over all the non CAW handle
not everyone is an idiot believing the game is thriving because they look at skewed numpers produced by CAW handle--only a few actually think that it is
-
You could put all the figures down you want. My horses are making good money I am very happy with the business.

Do your horses have names?

Yes. 265k of the 654k total handle came from the p5 carryover.
A wager they offer once a year and is heavily bet in the very last wagerijg cycle (caw)
These tracks use the smoke and mirrors strategy whenever possible, they rarely have legitimately good news to report.
1 wager per year is not sustainable or reliable measure of "thriving"

Yes, you love those government handouts. I hope you are saving that money when the taxpayers take it away.

Making money just like the 40,000,000 on food stamps.

Using the number of entries on ONE particular race to dispute the sport is absolutely thriving seems very weak. Actually laughable and clearly desperate. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Saying an industry is "thriving" when 85% of the funding comes from handouts is just plan manipulation of reality.
-
The industry is DEAD , however most of you are wrong about running aces , they actually have decent purses and the gambling is good , that's right I said it , laugh all you want but I am correct
-
If harness racing is thriving why is it relying on the Casino's funded money ?
-
Before you people continue to “pat yourselves on the back” like the wrestler Barry Horowitz did in the 1980’s, what did Northfield handle Sunday night? I believe they did more for 9 races than 11 at the aces! Which track has better drivers and racing??
