Trump is pushing he DOJ to prosecute Olympic canoeist AGAIN for vandalism after its own case against him COLLAPSED!
Donald Trump’s obsession with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool just took an even darker turn.
White House officials are now pressuring the Justice Department to find some other way to prosecute the man Trump still blames for damaging the pool – even after federal prosecutors admitted their original case was built on bad information and dropped it.
The Wall Street Journal reports that White House officials ordered the DOJ to consider a new prosecution of Olympic canoeist David Hearn after Trump repeatedly attacked U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro for abandoning the case.
Officials in the department’s criminal division are now exploring whether another case, even with toning the charges down to misdemeanors, is even possible.
The saga started when Hearn stopped at the Reflecting Pool during a June bike ride and reached into the water to touch a piece of coating that he says had already detached from the bottom.
Prosecutors first charged him with a misdemeanor, then dramatically escalated it to a felony.
Then the government’s own evidence blew the case apart. Pirro ultimately told a federal judge that the decision to indict Hearn had been “ill-informed” and that a botched renovation – not vandalism – was responsible for the Reflecting Pool’s problems.
That should have been the end of it. Trump was furious. He accused Pirro of having “folded like an umbrella,” demanded she “revisit her hastily made decision,” and on Sunday claimed a “highly credible witness” saw Hearn “ripping and tugging” at the coating.
Now we learn his pressure campaign didn’t stop with angry Truth Social posts. The White House reached out to the Justice Department, and officials are actually examining whether there is another way to charge Hearn.
Hearn’s attorney called the prospect “a shocking first,” describing it as “bringing back from the dead a case that the DOJ lost by its own admission that it lacked the evidence to convict.”
Trump may not get his do-over, though. The judge who handled the original case will hold a hearing next month on whether to dismiss it “with prejudice,” which could permanently block the government from charging Hearn again over the same alleged conduct.
The timing makes the intervention even more troubling. Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal defense attorney, was sworn in as attorney general Monday after arguing that presidents have the “right” and even “duty” to weigh in on Justice Department investigations – a sharp break from the traditional wall between the White House and individual criminal cases.
The Journal reports the discussions about Hearn have not yet reached Blanche himself.
But look at what has already happened: Federal prosecutors brought a felony case, examined their own evidence, concluded it couldn’t support a conviction, and dropped it.Trump refused to accept that result. He publicly savaged Pirro, saying she had “choked” and “folded like an umbrella.”
The dispute even exploded into a screaming match in the Oval Office, where Pirro arrived with a box of evidence and argued that Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s department had given prosecutors bad information. She made clear she was not willing to jeopardize her legal credentials by pursuing a case the evidence couldn’t support.
Now Trump wants another bite at the apple.
If the Justice Department gives it to him after its own U.S. attorney fought inside the Oval Office to explain why the evidence couldn’t sustain the case, the real story won’t be what happened at the Reflecting Pool.
It will be what happens when a president decides that evidence, prosecutors, and the law itself are not allowed to tell him no.

House Judiciary Democrats launch a targeted probe into the sham charges that Jeanine Pirro brought against former Olympian David Hearn for the nonexistent Reflecting Pool vandalism.
The bill is coming due for MAGA corruption...
“How did this debacle happen? Why was Mr. Hearn charged with committing a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison when the government knew he was innocent?" Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, wrote in a letter to Pirro and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
In it, he demanded that they hand over the communications between their offices and with the White House that pertain to the prosecution, which was ultimately dropped. Specifically, Democrats want to see the "evidence" that Pirro's office presented to the grand jury.
"Did the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) deliberately mislead prosecutors to cover up a ‘botched’ renovation by a company awarded a dubious $15 million insider no-bid contract?” Raskin wrote.
The answer to that question is, of course, yes. It was clear from day one to everyone not in the MAGA cult that the targeting of Hearn was a desperate attempt by Trump to manufacture evidence for his lie that the Reflecting Pool's disgusting green color and deteriorating lining were the result of "leftist vandals." In reality, the debacle was the natural result of handing out sweetheart deals to political cronies.
“Recent filings show that Ms. Pirro’s team of prosecutors was perfectly aware of Mr. Hearn’s likely innocence before they charged him with a felony. Indeed, a ‘Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Damage Assessment’ dated two days before Mr. Hearn’s indictment, shows systemic failure and peeling of the liner around the area where Mr. Hearn’s alleged vandalism occurred,” Raskin wrote.
Pirro pursued the prosecution like a good little fascist lapdog but eventually ran into a brick wall called objective reality. Since there was zero evidence to support the case, there was zero chance that she could win it. Her office ultimately dropped the charges and admitted in a filing that "hasty and botched work” was the cause of the damage. That admission, in turn, caused Trump to fly off the handle on her.
“The conclusion seems inescapable that at least one, if not both, of you have misled the American public about the evidence and used it to corrupt and weaponize our justice system against an innocent 67-year-old American citizen," stated Raskin.
The letter is also demanding information on the Interior Department's clearly corrupt decison-making process.
“Interior officials wrote to the contractor as early as June 11 — more than a week before Mr. Hearn’s arrest — complaining that the pool liner was already peeling but did not turn over this key email to prosecutors until after Mr. Hearn was indicted," wrote Raskin, who went on to accuse Burgum of having "dutifully parroted President Trump’s delusional ravings."
“Did President Trump pressure or influence either Department to retaliate against and scapegoat an American citizen?” Raskin asked.
“At a minimum, it appears that members of the Trump Administration were ready and willing to imprison an innocent American for a decade in a desperate effort to soothe an ex-landlord’s wounded ego about a terrible paint job and wasteful contract," he added.
These kinds of probes are exactly what Republicans fear most heading into the midterm elections. Once Democrats retake control of Congress, Raskin will obtain subpoena powers, allowing him to exert the full force of the law to turn over every stone and uncover every crime.

UNCOOL POOL: Workers are caught peeling giant sheets of coating off the Reflecting Pool BY HAND -- that’s some “hundred-year renovation”! 😆
Donald Trump promised his bright blue makeover of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool could last an entire century. It didn't make it through the summer.
New video from photographer Joe Flood shows workers repairing the drained pool casually pulling ginormous flaps of the “American Flag Blue” sealant from the basin with their bare hands. A power washer sends still more pieces flying.
Of course, this is totally embarrassing because Trump has spent weeks insisting it was determined malefactors – or perhaps wascally wabbits – not his shitty contractor, who were responsible for the damage.
“There may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by VANDALS!” Trump bleated on Truth Social.
As we all know, his own Justice Department couldn’t make that dog hunt.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro dropped charges against former Olympian David Hearn after prosecutors determined that the damage was likely caused by a botched installation. Lesser charges against three others were also dropped.
Trump responded by publicly attacking his own prosecutor, saying he was “very disappointed” Pirro” and complaining that she “choked before “folding like an umbrella.”
After all that, Mr. Never Back Down hasn’t backed down, inviting prolonged ridicule on him and his gang of idiots by doing stuff like installing signs around the drained pool declaring that crews were “repairing areas damaged by vandals” and insinuating that somehow Calvin Coolidge might have had a hand in it.
Flood’s video confirms what we already knew: the work just sucked and the expensive gunk they laid down too quickly is now peeling off like old wallpaper.
The whole project has been a fiasco from the start. Trump ordered the historic pool painted “American Flag Blue,” only for the makeover to contribute to one of its largest algae blooms in years.
The pool has since been drained twice and sits empty and shedding its skin like a snake.
