Title: Favorite In Yonkers Race 1 Was "Rough Gaited" ?
Post by: makingit on July 07, 2026, 08:15:28 PM
What's the difference between a break and rough gaited?  Would "RG" rough gaited be a reason for disqualification in a race if there was a dead heat?   Or would the horse have to "break" to be disqualified?

A rough gaited horse can make skips without completing going off stride and not be DQ'd unless one of them caused interference to another horse When a horse makes a break he goes completely off stride and can be DQ'd if he violates any of the breaking rules

Thanks.  Sounds good to me. I know the USTA just added the abbreviation to be used in the race charts about a week or two ago.
