It's really nonsense that these Top horses donot show up at the
Jug..
They need their "Blankee" cause the HMT and (2) heats
too tough..
Beau Jangles impressed me until someone mentioned he was
basically a Canada Sire Stakes horse...and now skipped
the Pace in NJ.....If he is a No Show in Jug....it will be
a writeoff horse.
Cant sit at home beating weaker.....in Sire Stakes
padding your earnings..
and this was the Horse of the Year in our sport ?????
Great horse...so lets see him race!!!!!

The whiners cry they can't go two heats and might get an outside post. The duel eligible in KY has made it even worse.

total agreement fella
horses today are considered far superior to even 5-10 years ago
but they cant go to Delaware and race 2 heats ??
they feel the need to baby these 3 yr olds late in the season
but the same owners /trainers blast the shit out of them in june/july of their 2 yr old season
like it or not the jug is the only place the sport gets 40,000 people to watch the races
it should be more of a festival of racing spread over more days having al the best horses there for at least 3 days
the sport continually shots itself in the foot

LOAD MANAGEMENT.
If it's good enough for the NBA....

Many years ago, you had no Pepsi North America Cup and Breeders Crown, so the Messenger, and the Jug were go to races for the money. Priorities have changed. More bigger races yield more competition coming out of the woodwork. It's easy to map out a schedule of big races, actually racing them all is a more difficult thing to accomplish!

So you are saying only Ontario Sired show up for the Metro and Breeders Crown? You obviously just started watching harness racing a couple months back

The Breeders Crown has existed for 42 years.
The North America Cup has existed for 43 years.

Racing and mentalities have since the Breeders Crown and the Pepsi North American Cup have come along! It isn't life and death to race the Jug anymore. More money and opportunities elsewhere and on bigger sized tracks too! The only reason people go to the Jug today is that they raised the purse money compared to years ago.

It is the sire stakes and the woke attitude that has infiltrated many aspects of life including the horsemen. Take away the slots handouts and that goes a long way to fixing this.

the problem is horseman and owners all think short term, how can i make the most money in the shortest time
to hell with the overall good of the sport and its future
the sad thing is for most of these big trainers and owners they have more than enough money already
put your best horses in the jug/jugette and come enjoy a few days of fair racing, put on a show for 40,000 or more who show up.... man up , so you might draw an outside post , shit happens

Are most of the horsemen today the big guys or the little guys?
The little guys have to make sure they don't get financially hurt while the big guys don't have to worry!
Big difference of where you are in the business and where you want to go in the present as well as the future.
