Title: Southwinds Breeding farm to close by '28

Such a beautiful place and a loss for the industry but I believe this speaks volumes as to where not only NJ is heading but harness racing as a whole

Not ever going to be profitable to breed and raise horses in NJ. What is the long term future of Harness racing in NJ? Amazing it's still hanging on by a thread, life support from the state comes thru, 1 more year! Why invest in NJ

Southwind is a beautiful property but the farm manager is an ass. Ask any shipper who was asked to pick up or drop off a horse. They also mainly function as a stallion station buying questionable studs and not supporting them with mares. The NJ racing program is questionable due to the fact that every state around them has slots and NJ politicians are known to be corrupt. Only 2 states that have racing have rejected racinos. NJ and Illinois. Also the 2 states that have the most former politicians in prison. Maybe a coincidence???

NJ is fine. Their breeding programs are as good as any and their racing attracts more gamblers than any. Plus, their sports betting is crushing it.
