Dave Magee the best. Dale Hiteman one of the worst drivers I’ve ever seen. Although in his younger years I guess he was adequate.

Anyone that raced with Dale at Sportsman's  Park or more so Maywood would not post something so foolish!

Daryl Busse was the son of Don Busse who raced in Chicago in the 1950's and 60's. At the time they were the first father and son to win national driving championship's. Daryl was a card. He drove many of hard to stear horses at the fairs and Chicago race tracks. Big boozer but a real nice fella.

Eugene Wazak is the winner as the worst.
Clarence Jacobs and Kelton Noble not far behind.

I never raced with or against him. I am just a degenerate gambler who watched and wagered on Balmoral and Maywood since the late 90s till both tracks eventually closed. Obviously he was good before the 90s. But what I saw. He absolutely sucked. The way he urged a horse to go on looked like he was rowing 🚣 a boat across Lake Michigan.

One night at Sportsman's Park I was railbirding between races.  Daryl was scoring down a bad actor a few minutes to post.  He was having a real hard time controling that beast.  As he flew past me he glanced over and chuckled, "Only a few more minutes to wrestle this orangutan!"  ;D

Daryl drove many hard to steer horses at the fairs and Chicago race tracks.
