Title: USTA Question
Post by: Kirby's Ace on June 21, 2026, 01:16:04 PM
US Trotting member fees have been used to develop many outstanding products, including

Hoof Beats magazine, the sport's most widely read monthly publication

PATHWAY, the sport's online performance and breeding database.
(copy and pasted from their site)

If the USTA fees are used to do that then why do they charge access to that database? Shouldn't that be in the membership fee?

If someone from USTA is a plopster can they please explain? I mean after all they're a non-profit organization. SCM what's your take?

I googled it and it said, it charges for access to its online database because the data is proprietary, copyrighted, and central to its regulatory and business operations and the association has a legal and operational interest in controlling its use, whatever that means.
