These were great horses, did the driver make the horse, sometimes it's the case, I don't think so....Smarty Jones was a great horse too, was Stewart Elliott a great jockey, hell no, he was very good in his lane in the middleweight circuit but Smarty Jones propelled him into the big money pressure world.  He became a better jockey but that's attributed to on the job training, and who did that for him?
