Great great memories. First yearling sale early 70's I went to there was held in the indoor jogging track.
It was small run down, the roof in places was coming down, and I think only the flats used it. Soon after it was torn down.
No lights on the mile track.
We raced harness on a half mile track.
Then they made it a 5/8s.
On Sundays afternoons we would race on the mile track till it started to get dark then switch to the 5/8s.
Then they finally put lights on the mile track.

Before it was known as Balmoral it was called Lincoln Fields way back in the 1930's. TBred track originally, stared harness on a half mile oval in 1968. A distant relative of mine use to run a tack shop on the backside. Fond memories. I had my biggest wagering night at Balmoral when I hit a $ 600 daily double.

More than likely. HITS lost their ass even after buying for a bargain price. Odds On was trying to buy a couple years ago and convert back to 5/8. Not sure if they actually bought it. Now looking like the Decatur racino may be a go

There was a tout at Balmoral named Ira Smolin who use to give blowjobs on the backstretch. He gobbled the goo for a winner.

Loved those Sunday nights when they started on the big track then switched to the 5/8s when the sun went down. Gerald Longo, Mark Saporito, Lavern Hostetler, etc. And the weekends when they had Maywood and Balmoral alternate races. And who can name the driver who won the last race ever at Balmoral? He is still active.

It was like 10 years ago i hope he’s still alive

Ridge Warren

I remember when they had a smoke out before IL banded smoking indoors

Ron marsh still smoked inside though and nobody said a word to him

between BoomBoom and his coke and your other hero RJ and his oxygen you've got some idols. Dregs of the Dregs.
The Sputnik trucking guy who leased some property there is crying and claiming he lost millions already. I swear these commie bastards are 10x worse than any Mexican or Guatemalan from the backside.
The place was falling apart.
Don't care uf it was set intentionally or if rats chewed thru Langley's still plugged in prostate massager, it's gone and not coming back ever.
Decatur is a pipedream that no one will visit.
Tinley Park was a,good spot but the guy who lost the primary for governor had shady pals and a dumbfuck partner in Tim Carey.
Drive down to Hoosier or wait for Springfield.
