In the movie "Two for the Money", Al Pacino is at a Gamblers Anonymous meeting with Brandon and tells another person that gamblers are only happy when they're losing. He says that most gamblers go to gamble to win, but when they lose, they feel a sense of survival and connection to life which is why they continue to gamble. At the end he hands out a tout sheet with Brandon's football picks.
