Silver Charm was tough as nails and had a ton of heart.

should have won the Triple Crown that year if it wasn't for a brilliant strategy and ride by Chris McCarron, who beat him in the Belmont with Touch Gold

Silver Charm was a street fighter--and if he saw you he would dig in and find more, McCarron figured the only  to beat him was to keep Touch Gold in the blind spot of Silver Charm, he did, it worked and it was too late for Charm to catch Touch Gold because he didn't see him until very late.

Gary Stevens has said repeatedly since then that Silver Charm was better that day... but he was out ridden by McCarron
