I am excited for the 3-day meet at Colonial Downs coming up. Last year I hit a couple of good numbers at that track. Trainers and Jocks from everywhere allo over that turf course. Good luck to all!
-
I saw the entries for all 3 days. It's too early for turf racing in the East, and all the races are on the dirt.

Purses are huge. So glad this place came back from the dead.

Churchill bought out Colonial that is why the purses are so high
Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) acquired Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent, Virginia, along with six "Rosie's Gaming Emporium" locations, from Peninsula Pacific Entertainment in late 2022 for approximately $2.485 billion. The deal significantly expanded CDI's, the parent company of the Kentucky Derby, footprint in Virginia.
-
Virginia also has historic racing machines which accounts for their high purses.

Churchill owns the HR machines in Virginia and the company that makes them

Saturday's card is what I'm aiming at.
Weather looks mild then, 64°, FAST and FIRM - GOOD is what I estimate.
Here's their daily forecast:

I haven’t seen the races and the purses.
Can someone give a quick preview of what’s happening??

Big purses but a lot of short fields today. No turf for this 3 day meet. Gotta pick my spots!

That is why they invented horizontals. Cold fave p3 paid a whopping $19 for 2 bucks Need the 4 here to keep the roll alive

as previously mentioned....ther e is no turf racing until the summer
-
Need the 2 race 5 to continue the roll to the p5

Love watching that snow fall at Colonial Downs. At least we are getting a break from the snow here in Maine! LOL!
-
Will the racing be ‘honest’ as larger purses means a few owners can pay their bills for the rest of the calendar year?

Colonial racing is as honest as you will find. Boutique meet has stables shipping in from all over. no cliques here.

I know, I got the memo after I wrote it lol ngc3
I downloaded race 4-9 Brisnet forms for each of those races assuming there were turf in there stakes races. For stakes I'll wager on dirt and turf.
Knew the 4th wasn't turf as I typically only wager on Maiden Special Weight races on the dirt and it connected to the stakes.

As I’m not familiar with the thoroughbred side, any famous jockeys and trainers coming??
-
They have a slew of stake races on Saturday including the $500,000 Virginia Derby. The top jockeys who will be there are Irad Ortiz Jr, Flavien Prat, and John Velazquez.
