No horse should ever end up in the slaughter pipeline. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 128 in California to strengthen protections for horses and prevent them from being sold for slaughter.
The law requires horse auction operators to check for brands, tattoos, or microchips and publicly list identifying information before horses are sold.
Buyers must also sign a sworn statement confirming they will not send the horse to slaughter for human consumption.
California had already banned horse slaughter years earlier, but this law closed loopholes that could allow horses to be secretly sold into the slaughter pipeline.
Animal advocates welcomed the move as an important step to better protect horses from being trafficked to slaughterhouses.
Because animals who carried humans for generations deserve protection, not betrayal.

Gov. Newsom signing that bill is just great. On the political front, I expect he will make a run toward the 2028 nomination.

I agree with you. I'm not sure JD Vance is electable but I think Marco is. I don't see anybody else that Democrats have to run other than Gavin Newsom. Gavin has just about destroyed California I'm not sure he's got a legitimate shot of winning.

At this point and we're far away from the election I think it will be between Marco Rubio and Gavin Newsom. The only thing Gavin has going for him is people vote on looks and rhetoric that's about it as he has certainly destroyed California.

We will all have candidates who we won't like 100% because of their past track records both good and bad.

California used to be one of the greatest places in the world
with the combination of gruesome newsome and los angeles mayor bass they have destroyed it
here is an idea, have a properly funded and staffed fire and police department and have water available in case of fires

Gov. Newsom will have a lot of money in his coffers by primary time. He'll own the west coast and northeast who are all used to high taxes anyway. I agree that Vance won't even win the nomination. Rubio is well liked among the latino voters and will do well in the south, but I'm not sure how his personality will play in the blue collar midwest. I think that the VP selection will be very important in 2028. It's going to be a fun ride!
