The interesting rumor I heard down in Springfield a few days ago was that one of Hawthorne's strategies to help them get out of their financial dilemma would be to sue the IHHA for around $4 million and the ITHA for around $17 million, the amounts that Hawthorne has overpaid the horsemen the past several years. That's over $21 million the horsemen OWE Hawthorne.

Yea
I like to see that happen 🤣
-
The State of Illinois is financial broke.
-
That would make the nightmare worse. Desperate people do desperate things.
-
Of course, if Hawthorne was able to collect on the $21 million owed to them by the ITHA and the IHHA, they would be able to pay all of their past due accounts and perhaps begin initial construction of their planned Racino.

Good luck with that , that’ll never go anywhere.

How do the horsemen association owe them money? The hearing said they owe the horsemen associations. Where did the money come from to fund the Springfield meet?
-
It would probably be what the creditors need to force involuntary bankruptcy on Hawthorn. Making the bankruptcy court follow the law on who gets paid first. So, even if Hawthorn got a judgment form the court, it would all go to the bankruptcy judge to pay off creditors.

that is deferred re capture $$$$$, which technically the state should pay the difference every year. The amount is not actual $$$ that was paid out it free $$$ for Hawthorne from the old recapture clause on live betting difference every year.

So Hawthorne is supposedly turning their race track over in anticipation for the upcoming scheduled thoroughbred meet. Is it actually possible that the IRB would allow Hawthorne to run that meet as they currently owe millions to various vendors and the harness horsemen. If that would actually come to fruition the IHHA should definitely file lawsuits against the IRB and Hawthorne to stop that meet unless Hawthorne at least releases all the purse money owed to the harness horsemen.
