Title: Meadowlands Pace news!
Post by: wizardofoz on December 26, 2025, 01:52:23 PM
One of the most influential stakes races for the glamour boy 3-year-old male pacing division, The Meadowlands Pace went for $656,000 in 2025. In ’26, it will go for $806,000 – an increase of 23 percent – in the event there are no eliminations for a second straight year, which would represent the biggest purse (USD) in North America for a pacing event!

They probably cut the purse of some other stake races or eliminated them entirely to boost up the purse.

The Meadowlands Pace purse was $1,293,000 in 1984, which then has a purchasing power today of $4,033,587.55.

In 2026, 42 years later after On The Road Again won the purse will be $806,000 ngc3

Wizardofjizz, go tell Jeff Gural to go fuck himself.  Then do the same.  ngc3

Thank you!   ;D

Agree, wouldn't be there without him.  Sad to see what it has become most nights.  Saturday night cards used to be unbelievable!

Pathetic!

The reason why cheating, drugs, CAW is so pervasive and will be in that race too - ALL those things ending harness racing.

Get it through your numbskulls the golden days of racing are over.

This is an embarrassment and an insult and organized crime.

Be like the honest horseman and take your scraps until there is no more, you've done nothing to make racing better, just beggars for a little more until it ends.

Let the thieves that you're either jealous of or praise take the rest, as usual when you could of made them gone and brought integrity back to this fucking mess and worked back to those golden days.

You and the honest horseman, and the regulatory who are corrupt too, along with Jeffy and Team are all COWARDS!

FOR THOSE OF US THAT REMEMBER THE EARLY YEARS OF THE MEADOWLANDS, ALL OF THIS IS SOMEWHAT DEPRESSING. GOING INTO A HUGE GRANDSTAND WITH ALL DIFFERANT TYPES OF FOOD AND ALL THE BARS . IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE IN THE DAY.  HOW ABOUT THE LOUNGE IN TH BACKSTRETCH AT THE EAST END OF THE TRACK. HOW ABOUT THE SIGN IN THE TRACK KITCHEN "YOU CAN EAT YOUR BETTING MONEY BUT DON'T BET YOUR EATING MONEY".THE STAKE RACES ARE STILL GREAT BUT OVERNIGHT RACING IS REALLY SAD. :'(

Jeff Gural, AKA "the slumlord", has not saved the Meadowlands. The Meadowlands, on Saturday nights, would race $100K claimers, Invites/Opens, $50K-$75K claimers. What Jeff Gural, AKA "the slumlord", has actually saved, is Freehold. That is what the Meadowlands has become, Freehold. He has done this while lining his pockets with sweetheart deals from politicians, while crying poverty. Vernon Downs, Tioga, and the new Freehold all run by "the slumlord", Jeff Gural.

 tmbz1 Wow!

Very, very smart and no one thought about it like that and no one said it, and all the conspicuous elements and happenings in front of our eyes and ears all along.

I'm seeking a further wisdom lesson, I'm going to read all your posts tonight.  Thank you Silent One!

 ngc3 Exactamente Cierto

Yeh, but according to our colleagues here, nothing is better than nothing  ngc3....I think we have some worse news for them as the purse money amounts in 2026 purse listed here now in 2025 is not in 2025 dollars, might actually spend a tad less than today  ngc3

Assuming all nominations and stakes payments are the same, the purse of the Cane Pace will go from $227,000 to $300,000 while the Del Miller Memorial will jump from $283,000 to $338,000.

This is simple math. With the Friday and Saturday cards running such cheap races, they are giving out minimal money. 68 TM is a class so low that most tracks that use the TM system don't even list it. The Big M will have multiple divisions. The money he is saving from their normal overnights is now given to this race. If the overnights continue as is, you will see more bumps. The purse money is for the horsemen's purses only. It can't be used any other way

From Standardbred Canada.....

https://standardbredcanada.ca/news/12-26-25/meadowlands-stakes-purses-increase-2026.html

What I feel is important is the Meadowlands will now be offering a new, second level program for NJ Sire Stakes horses. For horses not good enough to compete at the highest level of the NJSS, there will now be a “Silver Series” program.

The pile of shit is only okay if your horses are of Freehold quality and need somewhere to race. He's cheapened the track to the point where the top drivers take off most of the winter because it's not worth their time.

It's also possible he's serious about not having the Hambo and is using part of that money to boost those other races.

The drivers hate him...goes way way back when pile of shit slumlord made that ultimatum to guys like the white night and the minister of speed, basically the entire colony at the BigM going to the BigY for their better purses (even on dark BigM days  ngc3).  Choose and stay there.

Historic petty bullshit from a midget twat greedy asshole.

We don't have BigM Horseplop assholes we have BigM marketing assholes freely advertising for FREE on this site for years.

He wants to advertise, pay, I see no banners on plop, so move on.

How about I come to your fucking track and plaster the place with outside marketing?

It's not a rumor, they bid.

More likely stay at the BigM, if not, Red Mile, really where else other than another one mile track...who will just so happen to be hosting the 2027 Breeders Crown  tmbz1

The BigM and Hambo got together and said let's see what your race is really worth.

Think like a big shot, a business owner, a billionaire, and the real behind the scenes answers will come to you.

very good post and i had to think about it and realized you have a very valid point,     It is hard to look at horses that just ran 8 beaten 22 and going of at 3-5 because of a drop in class,      The odd time when there is a carryover at some c TBRED track and i see races were every single race is a fade in all races these horses  ran in and watching replays is useless and that is MEADOWLANS RACING these days.    Very thought out post SILENT ONE
