Not sure if still the case. in the past, they paid all horses that finished 6th through 10th in amateur races. Is this still true?
Do they do the same for overnight races?
If they do pay all. Do the horses finishing 1st through 5th get less?
And do any other tracks pay all finishers no matter where they finish?

Personally I think their purse distribution is ridiculous ....winners getting 46%?
Winners should be getting a higher % of the purse, not lower...diminishe s the incentive to actually try to win.
I think tracks should pay top three only...maybe 2% or 1% for fourth and fifth but that's it.
Enough with the participation trophies already...
-
I think its great that the horses at least get a minimal check. tmbz1
-
There were discussions last year that if you didn't finish in the top 5 in one of our last 5 starts, the participation award ended. I think their need for horses and the desire for full 10 horse fields curbed that

That is like going to work at a real job and expecting to get paid just for showing up.

No show jobs, then you have no work jobs.
Here it's don't perform pay.
Real nice for the gambler, no Hi 5 yet pay out 5th.
The gambler is nothing.
Pacer 2 is a dreckapatomous, like the rest, take the money and run and long as they can.
He's USTA another fucking zero cunt box that hates the gambler.
They don't even list wager types in their entries, while everyone else does including Standardbred Canada.
What happened to California and Florida, hmmm.
People will say well if you hate harness racing now why come to Plop.
I do hate it, I want to kill it, and see it resurrected properly.
They had their chance during covid19, a natural shutdown, what did they do, nada.
Kill the mother fucker!

So, beating 9 horses in a full field, earns you a lower percentage than beating 5 horses in a 6 horse field. That’s nuts.
-
I can't remember the name but several years ago someone came up with an interesting way to distribute the purse in a race. It was pretty complicated but in the end, owners were paid a percentage of the money bet on the horse.

Harness racing is not the NBA. Comparing it to Steph Currys guaranteed contract ngc3
What harness racing is would be a gambling game. Bets are made on the basic premise that the incentive that everyone is trying to finish in the best position possible. Paying everyone is completely against everything racing was build upon. The incentive must be to reward top performers to ensure competitiveness and a viable gambling game.
And BTW, you moron, pro golfers who dont make any tournment cut dont make a penny.

Harness racing people don't mind being robbed by cheaters for the first place check as long as they get their 3%. I think that is what Pacer means.

So ya know your horse is no good, vet healthy though, race for $20K and get $600 for just running around the track, so no reason to scratch.
All the insiders know the horse is a dud so gambler buyer beware.
On paper maybe looks like a favorite, gets heavily bet.
And insiders have a chance to make money gambling and omitting.
----
Fuck Pacer 2 and everyone that agrees to this bullshit.
Why harness racing is dying, that and a whole lot worse.

Does any other track pay all positions?
I feel that the only reason this is being done is to fill the card. If they had an abundance of entries, these payments would never happen.
Years ago, there was a minimum $20,000 claimer on the condition sheet. Now you see $4000 claimers on the card and winning. They have multiple 68 and under TM races. Most tracks wouldn't even write such a low condition. In its heyday. the Meadowlands was amazing. But like everything in life, things change. It's a shame, but it's reality.

I remember $50k, $75k and even $100k races at Meadowlands.
We all do.
Those were awesome races.
