Its amazing to me that the Meadowlands replaced Bob Heyden with people that are not only clueless but also hard to listen to. Bob is not only a great handicapper but also Harness Racings foremost historian.

That's one corner he never should have cut.
Would it be fair to say that Bob Heyden is our generations Stan Bergstein?

Across harness simulcasts, Jacob Rheinheimer is undoubtedly the most informed and well-spoken handicapper in the country... and it's not even particularly close
The on-air product at Hoosier improved greatly this year. The racing product, not so much, and the driver colony is entirely to blame.
The drivers at Hoosier are so timid, un-aggressive, and noncompetitive. Only track in the country where a driver on a 12/1 horse is strategically racing to finish 3rd-5th, not 1st. Favorites steal uncontested leads, 30 second 2nd quarters, free wins for the top trainers/top drivers - a self-fulfilling prophecy that continues to cycle.
Anyone who blames the trainers (George, Erv, Burke, etc) is looking at Hoosier's problems completely upside down. So many people talk about the rapid form reversal for horse's switching into these barns and blame the trainers for doing something illegal, when they don't consider that the barn switch also comes with a switch to the top driver and being the odds-on favorite - and thus uncontested leads and easy wire-to-wire wins. I've tracked a lot of these horses and many rattle off win streaks with just a minor boost in their raw TM speed rating, which tells me it's all about the role switch.
Hoosier needs to focus on recruiting better drivers, and not micro-managing their trainers.

I can promise you that driver changes are not making these horses go 4 seconds faster. EPO usage is a fucking epidemic and how the commissions and the USTA just turn a blind eye is a fucking disgrace, as many honest hard working horsemen are losing not only races but their owners, homes and ultimately their livelihood to a bunch of criminals that are destroying not only the health of their horses but a once great industry.

Someone gets it, that's refreshing. If you believe blood builders and excessive Vet work isn't the primary reason why horses, even cheap claimers, go 50 or better than you're dumb. You think the AGCO went to Classy Lane to take any OOC samples these past two weeks? I can tell you they didn't which only strengthens my belief that nobody cares. Menary, Burke and company are just two seconds better than everyone else.

At this point Heyden just spits out useless trivia facts that offer no real insight from a handicapping perspective.

His role has been squashed, probably due to Gural. He is a cheapskate. The handicappers are Village Idiots.
Have you heard this guy Joe Romaniello? A wannabe Dave Little. Freaking joke!

He's been working at Hoosier Park the past couple years and does post-race interviews at Red Mile during their 2 week grand circuit. He's a historian and that doesn't relate to most people.

historian? Of what?
-
Harness racing historian, he always brings up things that happened 40 years ago which most people never heard of.
-
I always viewed Bob as more of a "statistician" than "historian." Doesn't matter, he's been around a long time and has seen a lot. Like anyone in this sport and industry, he has his fans and his detractors. When he used to do the show, if he wasn't in that "stat" mode, I though he brought a good perspective to the discussion. I never thought he was a great handicapper, but that's OK. JMO.
But, being around a long time and having seen a lot, either you learn a lot or you think you've learned a lot, LOL. You decide which category Bob falls into, LOL.

I think that he adds something to a telecast.
