Title: Any Real Life Good Books About the Harness Industry/Sport From An Insider ?
Post by: makingit on October 22, 2025, 05:51:33 PM
Anyone know of any good books about the real life going ons in the sport/business and the behind the scenes intrigue. Betting, fixes, sex, love stories, and honest successes? I would like to read a unique raw truth and confessions novel that brings to light all the gossip and REAL going ons at the tracks, in the bar hangouts after the races, and at the training facilities.  I read a real good book about the local mafia in my area where I live and it really took you into the behind the scenes breaking legs, burning cars, loan sharking, romance, and gambling and all that stuff that I could really relate to as I actually knew some of the characters and going ons as I had first hand knowledge of some of the stories in the chapters and knew of some incidents. Any books?  Maybe someone could write one like the one I read.

One of my favorite books is "Way Of Life" by Bob Marks. It's a really great inside look at a life in harness racing.

Yonker1A  Thanks. Just viewed the author on one of his past podcast videos. Sounds interesting and am going to buy the paperback book on Amazon. Thanks again.

In MY OPINION he was repeating the same shix over and over, and there was a lot of self-agrandizement.  One of the real turning points was when the "boys" gave Buddy a real going over at the Island Inn.
